MOIA conducted a Commercial Corridor Canvassing in Sunset Park! 🌅🌳 We connected with immigrant-run and immigrant-serving small businesses and shared Know Your Rights information.

MOIA was joined by a representative from NYCSBS Office of Street Vendor Services and 10 MOIA volunteers who speak Spanish, Chinese, and Arabic. Not only did we share critical resources but also enjoyed what these small businesses have to offer.

We encourage you to check out this wonderful commercial corridor and support immigrant-run and immigrant-serving small businesses in your neighborhood! 🗽❤️

To close out AANHPI heritage month, a few weeks ago MOIA celebrated alongside the NYC Health and Hospitals Elmhurst team and Newtown High School students ❤️

The students performed cultural dances from Tibet, Nepal, the Philippines, China, India, and Korea. Their performances serve as a stunning display of the strength, diversity, and community our City.

One of MOIA’s team members, Tseyang, spoke about the services, information, and resources MOIA provides for New Yorkers. MOIA’s reaffirmed our commitment to serving all New Yorkers—regardless of where you’re from or how you came to be here 🌎🗽

Last week, MOIA was proud to join at the Central Harlem Resource Fair held at the Harlem DOH Clinic!

The event was inaugurated by Health Commissioner Dr. Alister Martin and brought together community members, service providers, and local partners for a day of resources, information, and engagement.

Attendees were able to connect with a variety of community organizations, accessing valuable resources and services from orgs such , BADUPC, , the East Harlem Neighborhood Health Action Center, and , and more ☀️

It was a joy seeing many senior residents from nearby NYCHA developments, as well as staff from neighboring Harlem Hospital, stop by and participate! On Friday June 5th, MOIA was proud to join in celebrating and recognizing the work and impact of interpreters from across the NYC Community Interpreter Bank (CIB) 🎉

As Young Kwon, MOIA’s Deputy Director of Language Access and Interagency Partnerships said in her speech at the event:
“Language use and learning are simultaneously both deeply personal as well as political. Every language spoken carries with it a story of strength, belonging, and connection that has travelled across borders and generations—sometimes at great cost. Too often, limited English proficiency is framed as a deficiency or shortcoming. In reality multilingualism is not a gap to be filled, but a strength to be celebrated.”

Through its interpretation services, the CIB has worked tirelessly to ensure that New Yorkers can access essential city resources in the languages they speak at home—helping to ensure that every voice in our diverse city is represented and heard.

Here at MOIA, we are proud stand with the mission of the CIB as our interpreters and language access team work to make sure that and other critical resources are available and accessible to immigrant New Yorkers ❤️🗽
