On this , we remember the devastation of the attacks, the lives lost and the selfless contributions made by our NY . Queens did not escape without any losses and the Southeast Queens Center for History & Culture gives a special shout out to the families of the more than 200 Queens victims and the local based FDNY and other first responders who answered the clarion call to help clean-up who because of it may face health challenges. This is a day for grace and comraderie.

Many of the places that tell our stories—historic districts, landmarks, and cultural sites—are increasingly threatened by environmental risks such as flooding, erosion, extreme weather, and toxic waste. Preserving history is not just about protecting old buildings; it is also about protecting the environmental conditions that allow those places to endure. Observing the of the from abroad is a surreal experience, particularly when confronted with cultural sites and landmarks in EU and Asian countries that predate our nation tenfold. This phenomenon underscores the significance of respecting all facets of society, where cultural, community, and creative figures are esteemed equally to educational and financial resources. In contrast, the US tends to disregard its seemingly "lesser-valued" icons. If we are to survive even another 250 years, it is imperative to recognize the entirety of our heritage. The Southeast Queens Center for History & Culture is doing all it can to help make that a reality!

Not to worry the Southeast Queens Center for History & Culture is proud to announce, that in collaboration with the Black Spectrum Theatre Company Summer Cafe Series, we will feature some of the great work from the film festival. Most notably, Tyrel Hunt, filmmaker extraordinaire who will talk about the film ( is a star itself in the film) and Louis Armstrong House Museum will once again showcase a portion of the .
