The project also includes an innovative community scorecard program. MTA’s contractor is eligible for an award of up to $500,000 this quarter – based on your input. Strength, stability, and smiles! The MTA LIRR Third Track team held a two-day workshop with 200+ fifth graders at Middle School to learn the principals of structural engineering and build a bridge. Students also watched time-lapse videos of the recent installation of the nearby Denton Ave Bridge.

Big day in the Village of Mineola, celebrating the new Mineola Harrison Ave Parking Garage. MTA Construction & Development President Jamie Torres-Springer, LIRR Interim President Catherine Rinaldi, and LIRR Expansion Project Executive Anthony Tufano were joined by Mayor Paul Pereira, Deputy Mayor Janine Sartori, and Trustee Paul Cusato. Just steps away from the Mineola LIRR station, the garage has 551 spaces with an elevator and Help Points throughout the facility.

How to install a new 1,400-ton rail bridge in a single weekend:

1. Remove third rail & track panels
2. Demo old bridge & excavate
3. Jack the U-structure 49 ft into position
4. Backfill the pit
5. Install new track panels, third rail, and ballast
6. Surface tracks & test signals
7. Run test trains
