It's the last in May, so we're spotlighting how Grand Street's programs celebrated Asian-American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month!

๐ŸฅŸ Five teams, five different Asian or Asian-American cuisines, five traditional dishes, one culinary showdown. This year's AAPI Cook-Off contestants honored the richness and diversity of Asian cultures and cuisines. Thank you to our elite panel of judges, including David Kramer (Board Member, The Sylvia Center), Jae Lee (Chef & Owner of Nowon), Arlene Spiegel (President, Arlene Spiegel & Associates), Georgette Farkas (Restaurant Owner & Event Producer), and Miadaly Camilo (The Sylvia Center). Congratulations to all our young chefs!

๐Ÿœ Congratulations to the graduates of the Baruch Elder Services Team NORC English class! Participants and the BEST team hosted a potluck featuring home-cooked Asian dishes with older adults from our other senior programs.

๐Ÿ‰ Grand Street staff celebrated AAPI Month through a delicious Taste of AAPI Culture event, featuring food and drinks from various neighborhood Asian restaurants, and enjoying a lively lion dance performance.

The City and State are making incredible, historic investments to achieve universal child care. The next steps must include strengthening the workforce pipeline with real incentives and paying teachers better wages. This is the way to build a system that is sustainable and meets the needs of parents.

CEO Robert Cordero and fellow child care advocates spoke with Madina Toure of POLITICO about the systemic nuances that must be addressed as the City pioneers universal child care.

Grand Street's participants are leveling up! ๐Ÿ‘พ

Best Buy Teen Tech Center members wrapped up a 5-week workshop series through the JReid InDeed Foundation, founded by NFL Safety and 2x Super Bowl champion Justin Reid.

The workshop empowered participants to explore the intersection of technology, sports, and gaming through hands-on game design and development. In partnership with Microsoft and the JReid InDeed Foundation, the Tech Center hosted a Fully Charged Showcase where members showed off their original games! Showcase winners were awarded with signed Justin Reid footballs.

Congratulations to all our young video game designers! We can't wait to play whatever you make next. ๐ŸŽฎ
