Families for Freedom stands in solidarity with the brave individuals currently engaging in hunger strikes at Delaney Hall in New Jersey and Adelanto in California. These acts of courage shine a light on the urgent need for change in our immigration detention system, where the conditions have become intolerable.

At Delaney Hall, residents are facing overcrowding, inadequate healthcare, and a severe lack of mental health support. Many are subjected to environments that neglect their basic needs, leading to increased stress and anxiety. Reports of punitive measures that disregard the dignity and humanity of those detained further illustrate the dire situation. Such treatment not only violates fundamental human rights but also contradicts our shared values of justice and compassion.

Similarly, at Adelanto, the stories of those detained echo the same cries for dignity and humane treatment. The hunger strikes at both facilities are powerful demonstrations of resistance against the injustices faced daily by individuals who are often left voiceless. These brave acts compel us to listen, to learn, and to act.

We must demand the immediate closure of these detention centers. Every person deserves to be treated with respect and dignity, not subjected to inhumane conditions. It is imperative that we uplift the voices of those who are detained and support the local coalitions fighting for their rights.

Your support is crucial. By donating to Families for Freedom, you help fuel our ongoing fight against these injustices. Your contributions allow us to provide resources, advocacy, and support to those affected, ensuring that their demands for humane treatment are heard and acted upon.

Together, we can create a future where justice prevails and every individual is treated with the dignity they deserve. Join us in this vital fight for change.

30 years ago, Congress passed and , further embedding immigration enforcement into the criminal legal system.

The entanglement of these systems has fueled detention, deportation, and racial disparities ever since. And we are living with those consequences today.

📆 Save the date!

The world is witnessing a profound crisis in migration governance, characterized by the erosion of multilateralism and a direct assault on the human rights of migrants. Current U.S. migration enforcement has become increasingly militarized and unaccountable, normalizing arbitrary arrests and violence.

At The Feminist Migration Policy Agenda (FMPA) panel, we'll be talking about migration justice and how these policy choices prioritize borders over people and have a disproportionate impact on women and gender-diverse individuals. Join us in demanding a structural transformation that addresses the political, economic, racial, and patriarchal foundations of the current system.

We are reaching out to address the recent and distressing event where an ICE agent attempted to detain a student at Columbia University. Fortunately, the student was released, but this traumatic incident has cast a shadow over our educational institutions, leaving lasting effects on not only the individual involved but also on the broader student community.

These events underscore the urgent need to equip students with the knowledge and tools to protect themselves and navigate these fears, especially in light of the ongoing targeting of students by immigration enforcement.

Our Executive Director will be speaking at Morrisville University to discuss these issues and educate attendees about their rights. This session provides a crucial opportunity for students to gain insights and foster a supportive environment where they can feel secure in their educational pursuits.

Over the weekend, our Executive Director attended the Take Back Tech conference hosted by in Atlanta. This event focused on the critical issue of how the administration utilizes surveillance as a tool to target immigrants, shining a light on the urgent need for community awareness and action.

The discussions highlighted the intersection of technology and immigration enforcement, emphasizing that knowledge is power in the fight for our rights and safety. As we navigate these challenging times, it’s crucial that we understand the tools and tactics used against us and come together as a community to resist these injustices.
