๐ฏ๏ธWe are deeply saddened to report the passing at age 85 of Ms. Ingrid Graham, a trailblazing woman in engineering and beloved Brooklyn Tech teacher of Aeronautical Design and Strength of Materials. A celebration of her life is planned for Sunday, October 1st at 10:30 AM at Cooperstown United Methodist Church.
โShe was a great teacher,โ notes Dr. Matt Mandery โ61, a former BTHS principal and Chief Educational Officer of the Alumni Foundation. โStudents loved her. She was wholly dedicated to teaching and to her students. Our Long Island Chapter honored her in 2015 with the Carl Lange Award for her many years of outstanding service to the Tech community.โ
Ms. Graham, who began her Tech tenure in 1977, was faculty advisor for the Civil Air Patrol, Gospel Choir and several other engineering-focused and faith-based clubs, becoming a guidance counselor in addition to working in the classroom. Her daughters and son are all Technites: Jenny Graham graduated in 1983, Robert Graham in 1985, and Katherine (Kathy) Graham Dallemagne in 1986.
Ms. Graham was one of two women in 1960 to graduate from the City College of New York with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. She earned her Masterโs in Urban Transportation and Planning. She also learned to fly, and held a Private Pilot License. She will be remembered by students and colleagues alike for her infinite patience and kindness.
Rest in Peace, Ingrid. ๐๐ค๐
