The Society of Foreign Consuls in New York celebrated its Annual Assembly on June 29th, at the Consulate General of Argentina. The Annual Report was presented by the outgoing President, Ambassador Marita Landaveri, Consul General of Peru. The members of the Society participated in the election of the new Executive Committee 2023-2024 and recognized the new President, Consul General of the United Arab Emirates, Amna Binzaal Almheiri.
Special guests at the Annual Assembly were Commissioner for International Affairs of New York City, Edward Mermelstein, the President of the Borough of Manhattan, Mark Levine, the Director for International Partnerships of Empire State Development, Carin Rising and the Regional Director of the Office of Foreign Missions, Alex Hardin.
The new members are the Consuls General of Angola, South Africa, El Salvador, Guatemala, Malaysia, the Philippines, Belgium, Bulgaria, Serbia, Switzerland, Argentina, Mexico, Kazakhstan and the United Arab Emirates.

The Executive Committee of the Society met last Friday, May 26th, for its monthly meeting. Consul General Daniel Erazo hosted a very special Salvadoran breakfast at the second smallest restaurant in Manhattan.

The Society of Foreign Consuls in New York members visited Albany

Some more photos from our trip... We had a working lunch and presentations from Empire State Development, the Center for Economic Growth and the Capital Region Chamber of Commerce, followed by a tour of the Port of Albany Maritime Terminal. At the Legislature of the State of New York we visited with Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie and Deputy Speaker Phil Ramos as well as other Assembly members. We visited the Assembly and were introduced to its members present at the proceedings. We did the same at the Senate and were acknowledged by its members, then we met with Deputy Speaker Michael Gianaris and Senator Sepulveda.
We were then hosted by Governor Kathy Hochul at a reception in the East Gallery.
On our second day we visited the Low Center for Industrial Innovation, the Microscale and Nanoscale Cleanroom, the Shirley Ann Jackson Center for Biotechnology and Interdisciplinary Studies, the Curtis R. Priem Experimental Media and Performing Arts Center and its Games and Simulations Arts and Sciences Program. Our final destination and equally interesting was NYCREATES and SUNY Polytechnic Institute and Albany Nanotechnology Complex.

Today, 22 members of The Society of Foreign Consuls visited Albany and participated in a reception offered by Governor Kathy Hochul at the State Capitol.

The Executive Committee met for its monthly meeting, presided by Ambassador Marita Landaveri, President of the Society. The Consul General of Argentina hosted the working breakfast on Wednesday 19th, April.

The Society of Foreign Consuls celebrated a meet and greet, happy hour, at the Consulate General of Argentina, with many of its members and other invited consuls who socialized while enjoying refreshments and delicious hors d´ouvres, as well as Qatari specialties. Our distinguished guests were Mark Levine, President of the Borough of Manhattan and Alexander Hardin, Regional Director of the Office of Foreign Missions.
