Mālō ‘aupito for the warm welcome during my first visit to Tonga.
Throughout the visit, I was struck by the values that underpin Tongan society: fakaʻapaʻapa (respect), fetokoniʻaki (supporting one another), loto tō (humility) and vā (the relationships that connect people and communities). These values were evident in every conversation and continue to strengthen the partnership between Australia and Tonga.
📢 Proud to announce Australia's AUD20 million investment over four years to advance gender equality, disability equity and rights, and social inclusion.
🇦🇺 🇹🇴 Tonga and Australia are Kaume’a Ofi (close friends). Our partnership is built on mutual respect, trust and enduring people-to-people connections, and Australia remains committed to working alongside Tongan partners to support a future where everyone can participate fully in social, economic and public life.
Mālō ‘aupito, the Hon. Fane Fotu Fituafe, Minister for Internal Affairs, whose generosity in accompanying me throughout the visit provided invaluable insights.
