Meet Lorenzo.
Renzo joined BAC in September. While he is new to agency, he has served the community for 15 years, 9 of which focuses on community health.
Renzo graduated from the Northern Virginia Community College with his Associate Degree in Applied Science. He started his career as a Certified Dental Technician servicing low-income and unprivileged communities who did not qualify for Medicaid or Medicare. In that position, he worked alongside dentists and hygienists to deliver free dental care to communities like the one he grew up in. This experience inspired him to explore other needs of his community through positions of a football coach, youth counselor, and working at a re-entry program.
At BAC, Renzo is responsible for linking individuals to treatment and prevention resources that fit their specific needs. They include access to care, regiment adherence, PrEP, HIV testing & healthy s*xual education. Whatever resources you may need, including mental health, harm reduction, support groups, he will be sure to link you in or point you I the right direction.
Renzo is passionate about serving the community. He thrives from the energy of the community, which is why community and street outreach events are his favorites. He believes person-to-person interactions help individuals to know that “their needs are important.”
Renzo is also a facilitator for the MEN TO KINGS program, which is a safe/brave space for black and brown men – mahogany brothers (in Renzo’s term), from all walks of life. They can be the young brother on his journey of self-discovery, or the brother coming home from incarnation in need of help in his re-entry process, or the woke brother who sees a need for change and wants to make a positive impact in the lives of others. MEN TO KINGS takes pride in promoting unity in diversity! It holds space for men of color building bonds regardless of their education level, social and economic background, health status, who he chooses to love or how he identifies. It is a place for the mahogany brothers to speak their truth.
