Sorry to report that we lost former NWFD member Roger Davenport on May 23, 2026 at 88 years old. Besides being a firefighter back in the day, he was also the NWFD treasurer for years as well a Fire Commissioner. He was also in the US Navy for 22 years, becoming a Senior Chief Petty Officer, serving multiple tours in Vietnam. Roger and Judy lived in New Woodstock for 50 years and raised a great family. He will be greatly missed by us all. His obituary is at: https://www.michaelebrownfuneralservices.com/obituaries/roger-davenport

It may be April Fools’ Day, but we’re not joking about this!

March 16 – May 14 is the New York State Burn Ban.

Even though we’ve had some recent rain, things will dry out again. Many wood lines and properties still have a lot of dry brush and debris from the fall and winter. As the weather gets warmer and drier, the risk of brush fires increases quickly.

Please remember that open burning is prohibited during the burn ban, this aims to help prevent wildfires and keep our community safe.

For more information on the burn ban and year-round open burning regulations, please visit the NYS DEC's website at the link found on the poster below.

Believe 31 would like to extend our sincere appreciation to the New Woodstock Vol. Fire Dept. for their support as a sponsor of our annual Kicking Fire Service Cancer Event.

Partnerships like this play a critical role in allowing us to continue our mission supporting firefighters, EMS providers, and their families who are battling cancer and other life-threatening illnesses.

Through their generosity, we are able to provide resources, financial assistance, and hope to those who need it most.

Together, we continue to Ignite Hope and stand behind our fire service community. Thank you for standing with us.

🚨 You changed your clocks…but did you check this?

You finally got all the clocks around your house adjusted for Daylight Saving Time, now it's time to check the batteries in your smoke detectors.

Many newer smoke alarms come with sealed 10-year batteries, but they should still be tested regularly to make sure they’re working properly and ready to alert your family if there’s an emergency.

While you’re at it, don’t forget to check the batteries in your carbon monoxide alarms too. These simple checks only take a minute and can make a life-saving difference.

🔥 Working alarms save lives. Take a moment today to test yours.

It is with great sadness that Cazenovia FD announced the passing of Past Chief Mike Emerson.
In his decades of service, Mike was an officer, chief, county fire instructor, and President of the Owaghena Hose Company.
An aggressive and skilled fireman, Mike was immensely proud of carrying on his family’s history of dedicated service to the Cazenovia Fire Dept and the community at large.
Our thoughts are with Mike’s family and friends, and his Brothers and Sister of the Cazenovia Fire Dept.
RIP Brother, we’ll take it from here
