It is with great sadness that we learn of the passing of former Town of New Windsor Justice Donald J. Suttlehan.

Justice Suttlehan faithfully served the residents of the Town of New Windsor for 29 years, from January 1980 through December 2009. Throughout his distinguished tenure on the bench, Don carried out his duties with integrity, fairness, dedication, and a deep commitment to public service. His contributions to our community and the judicial system left a lasting impact on the Town of New Windsor and the countless individuals whose lives he touched.

On behalf of Town Supervisor Stephen A. Bedetti, the New Windsor Town Board, and all elected officials, we extend our heartfelt condolences to the Suttlehan family during this difficult time. We are grateful for Don's many years of service to our community and will remember him with admiration and respect.

Please keep the Suttlehan family in your thoughts and prayers as they mourn the loss of their loved one.

May he rest in peace.

Town Supervisor Stephen A. Bedetti issued the following statement regarding the New Windsor Police Department's successful reaccreditation by New York State:

"On behalf of the residents of our community, the New Windsor Town Board, and myself, I extend our sincere congratulations to Chief Daniel Valeri, Lieutenant Matthew Monahan, and every member of the Town of New Windsor Police Department on achieving reaccreditation by New York State for the period of 2026 through 2031. Having served with the Police Department during the years leading up to our initial accreditation in 1996, I witnessed firsthand the dedication and commitment required to attain this distinguished recognition. I especially remember then-Chief Walter Koury's leadership and the tremendous efforts of Sgt. John Chivattoni, who was tasked with guiding the Department through its first successful accreditation process. For thirty years, the New Windsor Police Department has maintained the highest professional standards, thanks to the hard work of many officers and supervisors who have carried this responsibility forward. Today, we proudly recognize Chief Valeri and Lieutenant Monahan for their leadership in securing our latest reaccreditation and for continuing the tradition of excellence that has earned the trust and confidence of our residents. This achievement reflects the professionalism, integrity, and dedication that define the men and women of the Town of New Windsor Police Department."
