K-9 Deputy Zach Mullins & K9 Doom

K-9 Deputy Zach Mullins began his law enforcement career with the Claiborne County Sheriff’s Office in 2014 as a Corrections Officer, serving in that role until 2017. In 2020, he returned to the Sheriff’s Office as a part-time Civil Process Server, where he served until 2024. His dedication and commitment to public service led to his appointment as a Patrol Deputy in 2024.

From an early age, Deputy Mullins knew he wanted to serve his community as a law enforcement officer. His passion for helping others and protecting the citizens of Claiborne County has remained the driving force throughout his career.

Deputy Mullins is committed to serving with integrity, professionalism, and dedication while continuing to build strong relationships within the community he proudly serves.

K-9 Doom came to Claiborne County from Pigeon Forge and he is originally from Hungary.

The K-9 Team has already found their first narcotic find on a stopped Vehicle. We are looking forward to seeing the team develop and watching their bond constantly grow!

Congratulations to Sheriff Bob Brooks on his well-earned retirement after more than 40 years of Law Enforcement service serving the Great State of Tennessee and the residents of Claiborne County.

The Claiborne County Sheriffs Office K-9 Unit is deeply sadden to hear about the passing of our county Mayor Joe Brooks! Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and staff that worked closely with him.

From Monday the 13th through Friday the 17th, the Claiborne County Sheriff’s Office K9 Unit sent K9 Deputy Mullins, and K9 Deputy Burchett along with K9 Doom and K9 Oz to Quality K9 LLC for handler and K9 qualifications.

Throughout the week our handlers and K9s focused on three main tasks including Narcotics detection, Tracking, and Obedience. Quality K9 LLC also covered real world situations through their experiences while working with their K9 partners to help prepare our Deputies for what they might experience on the road.

At the end of their training, both handlers and their K9s had to go through a final exam. We are so excited to announce that both handlers and K9s PASSED and are CERTIFIED!

Congratulations and we can’t wait to see everything they will accomplish together.

Since Monday, Claiborne County Sheriff’s Office K9 Deputy Burchett, K9 Deputy Mullins along with K9 Oz and K9 Doom have been training with Quality K9 LLC to help certify and prepare them for real world situations.

K9 Deputy Mullins and K9 Doom have been training in Narcotics and Tracking to be able to conduct Narcotics Interdiction, while K9 Deputy Burchett and K9 Oz have been working on Tracking and Trailing to be able to find Missing and Endangered Juveniles, Adults and Elderly.

This week, Quality K-9 LLC is proud to be working with the Mount Carmel Police Department and the Claiborne County Sheriff’s Department, conducting a K-9 Handler’s Course for three dedicated handlers.

Throughout this course, handlers are learning how to better read their K-9 partners, improve communication, and strengthen the bond that is essential for success in the field. Training focuses on practical, real-world scenarios that prepare both handler and K-9 to work confidently and effectively in the situations they face every day.

We appreciate the opportunity to work alongside these agencies and help invest in the continued development of their K-9 teams. Thank you to the Mount Carmel Police Department and the Claiborne County Sheriff’s Department for trusting Quality K-9 LLC with your training.

K9 Doom would like to remind all his four legged friends 🐾 and their owners to keep pets inside and leashed when outside so they don’t run off!

Please be safe when setting off fireworks! There is no county ordinance regarding noise or fireworks!

Today,
K9 Oz loves to make new friends no matter who they are or how small. K9 Oz tried to befriend what he thought was a cat but had stripes and a big fluffy tail. Needless to say the Skunk did not want any new friends.

Today, K-9 Sergeant Luke Walsh and K-9 Deputy Zach Mullins of the Claiborne County Sheriff’s Office K9 Unit attended a monthly training session in Pigeon Forge, TN, where they collaborated with the Pigeon Forge Police Department and the Gatlinburg Police Department where they focused on Narcotics Detection. Claiborne County Sheriff’s Office
