New Smyrna Beach Paint Out

New Smyrna Beach Paint Out Join us this October for the Annual New Smyrna Beach Paint Out and Discover Nature through Art! https://www.artistsworkshopinc.com/community-guidelines

This fabulous five-day event invites you to Discover Nature through Art and celebrates everything that makes our seaside community unique. With a goal of raising valuable funds for two local nonprofits, the New Smyrna Beach Paint Out brings to light the important work of Marine Discovery Center and Artists’ Workshop, NSB. During this celebration of art and the outdoors, several professionally-accl

aimed plein air artists will paint outside from dawn through evening at locations in New Smyrna Beach and nearby areas. The public is invited to watch the artists at work, view their recently completed paintings in the Artists’ Workshop NSB, and attend free daily painting demonstrations. This year's NSB Plein Air Paint Out will continue the legacy of fund-raising to enhance our environmental education and art programs and to further the goals of both the Marine Discovery Center and the Artists’ Workshop of conservation and stewardship of the Indian River Lagoon and art appreciation to our youth, community and visitors. 🎨 Plein Air is a year-round passion for us! We love seeing local artists out in the wild, which is why we wanted to give a huge shout-out to Rick Orr’s painting group. They are hosting their final scheduled paint out of the spring/summer next Tuesday, and it’s a great chance to create in community before they break for the season!

📅 Tuesday, June 9th at 9:00 AM
📍 Under the Dunlawton Bridge, Port Orange
🗺️ Directions: Go over the bridge, turn right at the light at the end, and take a quick right to head down under the bridge. (Lots of shade, a great breeze, and easy parking right by the water!)

Rick’s group will return in September, just in time to get everyone warmed up for our absolute favorite time of the year—the 16th Annual NSB Plein Air Paint Out coming this October! Featured Artwork: Sun Drenched Fun by Jeanette Herron, Niceville, Florida

✨ Drop a 🎨 in the comments if you plan on painting outside this week!

"Taking care of our history, one branch at a time." 🌿 Huge shoutout to Local Artists, Members, and educators DeAnn Parker & Laura Robinson, officially crowned as our resident 'Tree Queens' here at the Artists’ Workshop Gallery on Magnolia!

We are so grateful to these community leaders for clearing the heavy moss off the beautiful live oak shading our memorial picnic table & green space.

Their hours of service this week honors a very special donation in honor of Carol, the sweet mama of our wonderful volunteer label maker, Local Artist, & Member Toni Hill.

We 💚 our family. Only a day from our Grand Opening & we’re excited to see you soon!

Calling all outdoor painters! Rick Orr’s fabulous Plein Air Group is heading to Lake Ashby Park! 🌿 For next week's session on Tuesday, June 2nd, the group will be meeting up to capture the beautiful scenery at Lake Ashby. Whether you're a regular or looking to join the crew, grab your easels and meet us there!

Here are the details:
⏰ Start Time: 9:00 AM sharp
📍 Location: Lake Ashby Park (off SR-415)
🚻 Amenities: Restrooms and a pavilion are on-site.

🚗 Directions from the NSB area:
Take State Road 415. You'll head past the landfill and keep an eye out for the old fire tower on the left. The park turn-off is just a little bit further past the tower. Once you turn, follow the road about a mile or so into the park to find the group.

We are keeping our fingers crossed for clear blue skies and no rainouts. Hope to see you out there creating!

“Art is the child of nature,” as Henry Wadsworth Longfellow beautifully wrote—and we can't wait to see what our campers create from that inspiration this summer! Prep day for the first week of Eco Arts Camp with the Artists’ Workshop was a blast.

We 💚 our creative community! Big Workshop thank you’s Cathy, Nicolette, Joan & Bev for helping make the amazing Regina Wise’s vision come to life!

Making History: Honoring our roots. 🌴✨ Every ending is a new beginning. Today, as we prepare for our big move from 115 Canal Street, we paused to carefully and mindfully uninstall the historic gallery panels that have framed our art for decades.

We were deeply honored to do this with the help of Harry Messersmith himself. Hand-built by Harry—a brilliant local artist and Stetson University professor—these panels carry an incredible legacy. The Messersmith family name is woven into our fabric; Harry’s father was also instrumental in our earliest days, helping shape the NSB arts community from the start. We are profoundly grateful for Harry's immense contribution and ongoing dedication to the workshop.

We are carrying this rich legacy and spirit right along with us to our temporary launchpad at 207 Magnolia Street as we work toward securing our forever home.

Making history in — For 68 years, the Artists’ Workshop has been the creative heart of our community, including 48 incredible years at 115 Canal Street. This week, we make history by hosting our last art pickup on Canal & officially began moving into 207 Magnolia Street—our very first standalone gallery! 🖼️✨

While our Gallery on Magnolia is a temporary location rather than our forever home, it is the vital launchpad for our future—the platform we are using to dream big and secure our ultimate permanent space.

Our team of volunteer artists are moving fast! With our city inspection set, we are actively aiming for an Opening Day on First Saturday, June 6th. Because things are moving quickly, everything hinges on that final inspection stamp. Stay tuned to our page next week for confirmed dates the moment we get the official green light!

Help Us Build the Future: This transition is the first step toward our forever home, and we need your support to get there. Consider becoming a member today or contributing to our donation campaign to help fund this exciting new era! www.artistsworkshopinc.com

Reflecting on a wonderful morning yesterday at the Brannon Center for National Travel & Tourism Week!

A special thank you to The New Smyrna Beach Area Visitors Bureau team for the experience! ☀️ Yesterday was all about education & connection— learning exactly how tourism fuels our local economy & supports the way of life we love so much here in NSB.

As a historical art education non-profit, we are honored to play a small but vital part in what makes our community a "must-visit" destination. We’re feeling so grateful for the kindness of our neighbors and the vision of our city leaders. 🎨✨
