The Westchester County Department of Environmental Facilities never expected household hazardous waste disposal appointments to become the hottest ticket around! DEF is thrilled by the continued enthusiasm for and participation in our programs!

The H-MRF only accepts non-putrescible materials, which are generally not items residents must immediately dispose of in the curbside trash if an H-MRF appointment is not immediately available. Please continue to check back as additional appointment slots become available.

DEF recognizes the H-MRF’s popularity and will continue to adjust operations in accordance with demand and as capacity allows.

The Westchester County Department of Planning has launched the Improving Transportation for the Aging Population (ITAP) study. Through this study, the County is taking a comprehensive look at how older adults travel today, what transportation and mobility services are available throughout Westchester, and where gaps or barriers may exist.

As part of the ITAP study, Planning has published an online transportation survey seeking responses about older adults transportation uses: where do you go, what works well, and, importantly, where transportation challenges may prevent them from making trips. The ITAP survey will be open to the public until Monday, October 5 2026. Please complete the survey if it pertains to you, or share with someone you know: https://form.jotform.com/262155728730055
