News Release - City of New Port Richey's Annual 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony

The City of New Port Richey and the 9/11 Committee invite you to join together as we continue our promise to never forget the horrific events of September 11, 2001 with our Annual 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony on Friday, September 11th at 7pm in Sims Park located in downtown New Port Richey. This year marks the 25th anniversary of the events that forever changed our nation. The annual event is a special memorial to help our citizens remember and continue healing while building patriotism. This year’s guest speaker will be New York Police Officer from the Motorcycle Division, Robert "Bobby" Albertson, who will share his experiences of that heartbreaking day and the weeks that followed. Members from the Suncoast 10-13 Club NYPD and Gene O'Kane NYFD Club will also be in attendance. The Seven Springs Middle School Chorus, Friend of Him, and Starkey Ranch K-8 will perform music during the program. Several local clergy will be in attendance to help us to see the light of hope from this dark day. The event will end with a patriotic country concert by Pfister, Pitts & Pfriends.

For those that come early, there will be 9/11 memorabilia and military vehicles on display as well as artwork from local students that share their view of this historical event. The Sheriff’s Posse will also be in attendance as well as a bloodmobile so you can help others by sharing your blood for those in need. A limited number of chairs will be available for seating so you are encouraged to bring your own for the event. For more information on this event, please contact our Parks and Recreation Director, Kevin Trapp, at (727) 841-4560.
