Is there anyone out there that will give this sweet senior a retirement home? She doesn't deserve to be sitting in a cage at the pound.

Gram Gram is at least 12 years old. She is already spayed. She was vet checked and rabies vaccinated. She tested heartworm negative and given flea/tick/heartworm prevention. She is ready to put pound life behind her and get back into a home. All she wants is a comfy dog bed and some good food. Maybe a home with limited steps to help her as she continues to age. She does get around quite well for her age. She is a little stiff getting up off the floor, but once she's up, she is good to go. She may need some joint supplements/pain meds as she ages to help with arthritis. Gram Gram is a short, stocky little thing. She has little legs and a sausage shaped body. She weighs 36 pounds. She has the sweetest frosted face, cute little smile, and adorable bat ears. Plus, this sweet girl seems to be completely housebroken. She holds it all night for us. Gram would likely be just fine in a home with dogs who are calm and respectful. Same thing with kiddos. We see no reason why she couldn't co-exist with respectful children. She should meet the whole family prior to adoption.

We know taking on a senior dog is not an easy decision. We know she may not be here for a long time, but she is here for a good time! And she will certainly bring joy to any family willing to give her a chance. Gram Gram's adoption fee is $70 and includes a license. Please give the shelter a call if you would like to give this sweet Grandma a forever home. ❤️

**UPDATE** Owner Located 😔

Unfortunately, the dog warden picked up a deceased small dog from the 3900 block of Johnstown Rd outside of Dover. She's a middle aged female, black and tan scruffy/wirey haired terrier type mix. She is around 10 pounds. No collar. No microchip. We have her body here at the pound. We want to get her home, so her family can give her a proper burial. Please share to find her owner.

This sweet old girl was found running on 4th St near NP High School by a NPPD officer on Tuesday morning at midnight. We assumed someone would be frantically calling for her by Tuesday Morning when we opened. Unfortunately, that was not the case. Days have gone by now with not a word on who she belongs to. It's always hard to see stray dogs go unclaimed, but it's absolutely heartbreaking to see a senior dog go through this. We don't know her name. We don't know her age or her breed mix. We don't know what her life was like before or what her preferences are. Someone loved and cared for this girl, and then just let her end up a nameless stray senior in an already overwhelmed shelter system. We are still holding out hope that someone may call for her, but it's looking like precious Gram Gram will be looking for a retirement home.

Gram Gram is probably around 12 years old. She is a medium sized brown mutt with the sweetest frosted face. She is about the size and build of a beagle. Gram Gram appears to be already spayed. She had a few fleas, but we have taken care of those. It seems her skin is sensitive to fleas, so she saw a vet today to get some meds to help her skin heal. We will do whatever vaccines the vet recommends for an old girl like her.

What does her perfect home look like? Gram wants a calm and quiet home. We don't think she would enjoy a young dog bouncing all over her, but she has been fine with dogs at the shelter and the vet. She doesn't know a stranger and has wanted attention from every person she has met. She has not met any children. Older children would probably be fine. Gram is slow to get off the floor, but once she is up, she gets around pretty well. We feel she would do best in a home with limited steps or with someone who is capable of picking her up and carrying her up and down steps. She does not mind being picked up. She loves a fluffy dog bed. She moves from bed to bed depending on where we are. She just wants to hang out quietly with her people. She is calm, quiet and well behaved. We have not heard her bark. She takes treats very nicely. She has not pottied inside this building at all...not even in the back kennel area. She holds it all night and waits for us to get her out in the morning. She is not picky about her food. She eats both dry and canned here.

Gram is looking for a loving retirement home. If you are interested in her, please reach out to us. 330-339-2616. Her adoption fee will be $70 and includes a license.
