Nothing says community quite like Rotarians rolling up their sleeves at Tuscora Park! 💙

This past Tuesday, members of New Philadelphia Rotary Club spent the evening helping get the park ready for opening weekend! They were spreading mulch, washing down rides, planting flowers, and giving a little extra care to one of our community’s favorite gathering places. 🌸

We can’t wait to see families making memories at the park again this summer! 🎡

Our Salute Freedom Flag Project is back! 🇺🇸

Let us help you proudly display the American flag at your home or business this season—just in time for Memorial Day and all the patriotic moments that follow.

For just $50, Rotary members will install and take care of your flag throughout the season, so you can focus on what matters most, celebrating our country and those who serve it.

Join us in creating a wave of red, white, and blue across New Philadelphia. ❤️🤍💙

Thank you so much to our guests from Tuesday's meeting. We were joined by Wilma Mullet, Executive Director of Tuscarawas Arts Partnership, and Community Engagement Coordinator Mary Maxwell. Wilma shared her recent testimony in Columbus in support of HB 563 which advocates for more transparency in ticket sales and stronger protections for audiences and local venues.

This will provide trust and make sure when you buy a ticket, you know exactly where it’s coming from and it is protecting our local arts organizations from misleading third-party platforms.

Unfortunately, scams are happening more often than people realize, even right here in our county at places like the Little Theatre, the Performing Arts Center at Kent State Tuscarawas, and the Ohio Star Theatre.

If you’re purchasing tickets online, always double-check you’re buying directly from the venue. And if you’re ever unsure, don’t hesitate to call the venue or reach out to the Tuscarawas Arts Partnership. They are a great resource!

"The Manufacturing History of Tuscarawas County" is a newly published book. Its authors addressed members of the New Philadelphia Rotary Club this week.

Kim Jurkovic from the Tusc. Co. Historical Soc. and Shelagh Pruni from the Reeves Mansion and Museum spent a year researching and finding photographs telling the story of the growth of industry in the County. From the early days of the canals, the coming of railroads, and super highways, they say Tusc. Co. is well placed to take advantage of natural resources and has convenient proximity to major urban areas.

The book costs $20 and is available from the Tusc. Co. Historical Society and at many locations in the area.

In the picture are Kim Jurkovic, Shelagh Pruni, and Rotary Past President Julie Levengood.

Don't forget to order your American Flag to Salute Freedom this year. Rotarians place flags at homes and businesses in New Phila for a donation of $50.

New Phila Rotarians learned more about the Tuscarawas County Public Library System's Bookmobile services at our meeting this week. Mobile Services Supervisor Emmie Troyer detailed the wide variety of ways the library's fleet of bookmobiles serve local communities, rural areas, schools, nursing homes, and special events. The library can even provide home delivery of books for people who are unable to get out on their own.

To learn more about the library's mobile services and event schedule go to: https://www.tusclibrary.org/mobile-services

New Phila meets again on Tuesday, April 14 at noon at Park Place in Tuscora Park. Our club is growing and potential new members are always welcome to attend a meeting to learn more about Rotary and our many community service projects.

Did you know nearly 400,000 children are in foster care nationwide? And 40% of foster families quit within a year, not from lack of love, but lack of support.

That’s why what Fostering Love Tusc County is doing matters so much. ❤️

Right here in our community, they’re supporting the entire foster care system:

-Foster families with meals, respite nights & essentials
-Case workers with appreciation & advocacy
-Biological families with resources & support

Thank you so much to Belinda Merryman, Alivia Cox and Amanda Hodge for sharing your message with us this month.

Yesterday, we had the pleasure of welcoming an incredible group of students from Claymont City School's Junior Achievement program to Rotary!

These talented young adults shared their innovative business project, Next Chapter, a book and app designed to make an impact. Not only was their concept impressive, but their confidence, professionalism, and knowledge of their product truly stood out.

A special thank you to their teacher, Andy Zimmerman, who also spoke about the students’ competitions and exciting upcoming appearances. It’s clear these students are going places!

You can purchase a book at: https://nextchapterja.myshopify.com.
