This is an important message from the New Oxford Municipal Authority. The Authority (NOMA) is issuing a Boil Water Advisory as a precautionary measure until further notice. There is no indication that any contaminants entered the water system but an unexpected drop in water pressure occurred in some portions of the water system so out of an abundance of caution the Boil Water Advisory is in place until further notice. Water should be boiled for a minimum of one minute and allowed to cool prior to drinking. Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes and food preparation until further notice. Inadequately treated or inadequately protected water may contain disease-causing organisms. These organisms include bacteria, viruses and parasites which can cause symptoms such as diarrhea, nausea, cramps and associated headaches. These symptoms above are not caused only by organisms in drinking water. If you experience any of these symptoms and they persist, you may want to seek medical advice. Guardians of infants and young children and people at increased risk, such as pregnant women, some of the elderly and people with severely compromised immune systems, should seek advice from their health care advisors about drinking water. Bacteria samples are being collected to ensure the water system has not been compromised. The Authority apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause, questions and concerns can be directed to 717-624-9399 or [email protected]. Notification will be sent out when the Boil Water Advisory has been lifted. Thank you.
