Staff from Adams Regional EMS participated in a joint training with the lifeguards from the Gettysburg branch of the Hanover Area YMCA. There are numerous private swimming pools and open bodies of water in the Adams County area that are unguarded. This training helped our staff learn from the experts on how to effectively remove someone from a pool in the event of an emergency. This training also allowed us to practice integrating with the YMCA staff so that everyone could best help someone having an emergency in their pool. Topics covered included spinal stabilization in the water and how to safely remove someone with a spinal injury, how to rapidly extricate someone having a medical emergency, ways to prevent hypothermia in drowning victims, and an overview of emergency response procedures. ๐ŸŠโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ›Ÿ

We were excited to welcome Emergency Health Services Federation (EHSF) and their Mobile Simulation Lab to Adams Regional EMS!

One of the best parts of this incredible training opportunity is the ability to fully customize the simulation scenarios. The high-fidelity mannequin can be programmed to match real-world emergencies our crews may encounter, allowing us to tailor the training specifically to the needs of our providers and community.

From medical emergencies to trauma situations, these hands-on simulations help our crews sharpen critical thinking, communication, patient assessment, and treatment skills in a safe but realistic environment.

Training like this allows our providers to build confidence, improve teamwork, and stay prepared for the calls that matter most. We are incredibly thankful for the opportunity to bring advanced simulation training to our team and continue investing in high-quality education for our EMS professionals.

A huge thank you to EHSF for bringing this valuable experience to us!
