🩸Today’s Battle of the Badges blood drive is about more than a friendly competition between agencies. It’s about honoring and remembering the lives lost on September 11, 2001.

While NOPD and OPSO may have taken the lead in today’s challenge, the real winners are the blood recipients—the patients who will benefit from every donation.

Here at New Orleans EMS, those donations can directly help us care for patients when they need it most!

Never Forget 🇺🇸

Today, we pause to remember the lives lost and the lives impacted by the tragedy of 9/11.

This day is an important reminder of the service & sacrafices of all first responders who have chosen a career in public safety. Year-round, our 911 Emergency Communications "Heroes Under the Headsets" are honored to provide the literal lifeline to thousands of New Orleans Police Department officers, New Orleans Fire Department firefighters, and New Orleans Emergency Medical Services personnel. We're thankful and humbled to partner with you all.

In the days after Katrina, many answered New Orleans’ call for help—including our brothers from the FDNY. It had been only four years since 9/11, and the pain of their loss was still deeply felt.

Twenty‑one years ago, while our city was still broken and searching for stability, NOEMS and NOFD were invited to stand alongside FDNY at their memorial ceremony held at the nursing home where we were all living. We stood shoulder to shoulder with them in a profoundly moving moment of remembrance and unity.

After 9/11, Louisiana donated a fire truck to FDNY—the “Spirit of Louisiana.” And when our time of need came after Katrina, FDNY returned that same engine to us.

That gesture, and those days spent together, remain a powerful reminder of what brotherhood in public service truly means.

In honor of all those lives lost on September 11th, 2001 AEMT John Gan represented New Orleans EMS at the New Orleans Memorial Annual Stair Climb. Climbing 78 floors, the highest any first responders got on that terrible day! Thank you John for representing NOEMS and all those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
