Students for a Democratic Society (SDS) is a national, multi-issue, progressive student organization with chapters across the United States. We stand against US wars and intervention, racist discrimination, police crimes, homophobic and transphobic attacks, attacks on women, attacks on reproductive rights, and much, much more. We were refounded in 2006 after protests against the US invasions of Iraq and Afghanistan, by students who were inspired by the powerful anti-war movement built by Students for a Democratic Society in the 1960's and 1970's. We are action-oriented and host protests and other direct actions on campuses to show students that they have the power to win policies for a better campus and to move society as a whole in defense of progressive social movements.

SDS is boosting a call from our allies at Nodutdol who are boosting call from organizers in Korea. In 1992, a US soldier brutally murdered Yun Geum-l in the city of Dongducheon. Her death ignited a mass movement against the US military in South Korea.
The US military has sought to erase Yun’s memory by building a “US-ROK Friendship Plaza” just outside her former home.
Activists are fighting to convert her home into a memorial site
- and need donations by August 31.

With the start of a new semester, National SDS calls on all our chapters and students broadly to demonstrate in the name of “Ice Out Now” on September 1st!

National SDS is re-iterating our call for “No MAGA Campus!”. As we enter a new semester on campuses around the country the students will struggle against any attempy by admin to comply with Trump’s Agenda.

National SDS is calling upon SDS Chapters and allied organizations to call actions on their campuses and, if possible, join community actions to defend Haitian International Students and Haitian Immigrants from Trump’s reactionary attacks.

Madison SDS and National SDS
reiterates the cries for justice and accountability, and we urge the people of Madison, of Wisconsin, and of the whole country to take action. We would like to amplify the demands of experienced community organizations such as Freedom Inc., who for years have struggled for stronger Police Civilian Oversight as well as Community Control Over Police. From the Capitol to the campus, from MPD to UWPD and beyond, killer cops must be held to account.
