It's as simple as that!

It is with deep sorrow that we announce that venerable Post member Bert Stolier passed away on June 13, 2016, at the age of 97. Bert loved our Post and participated in our programs whenever I asked, as long as he was available. We had a program honoring Bert, and his personal account of being in action at Pearl Harbor, being adrift at sea after being torpedoed, and much more, had us mesmerized. He was such a proud Jewish veteran. It is an honor to have known Bert and many of you that served our country w/distinction.

For some, Memorial Day Weekend is the signal that summer has begun- it means barbeques, white pants, and swimming.

For us, Memorial Day is not a cause for picnics and shopping. It is a solemn day of reflection, to honor the fallen who gave their lives to preserve our freedom. It is a day of sadness for veterans who remember their comrades that did not make it home. For these families, it is a day of mourning- instead of greeting their loved ones at a party, they will be visiting their graves and honoring their memories.

Many of our members spend Memorial Day putting flags on soldiers’ and veterans’ graves, because every person who served deserves to be remembered for their sacrifice.

Your contribution helps JWV provide support for our Posts across the country who volunteer their time to lovingly care for Jewish and veterans’ cemeteries, and so that we may continue to aid veterans in need.

To all veterans- we salute you.

Dear All,

Just published yesterday, 4 Star General Goldfein was appointed Chief of Staff of the USAF.
