In The News: The good news keeps reverberating for New Orleans public school students. ✨

Earlier this year, NOLA Public Schools shared the results of the Education Recovery Scorecard, which showed remarkable academic growth across our city. Now, WWL Louisiana is putting a spotlight on those gains and the students, families and educators helping drive them.

From 2022–2025, Orleans Parish students ranked:
• 99th percentile nationally in reading growth
• 98th percentile nationally in math growth
• 98th percentile nationally in overall learning rate, averaging 1.35 grade levels of learning per year

“These gains reflect the dedication of our teachers, the hard work of our students and families,” said NOLA-PS Superintendent Dr. Fateama Fulmore.

We’re proud to see this progress continue to receive recognition. Congratulations to our students, families, educators, school leaders, faculty and staff whose commitment continues to move public education in New Orleans forward.

Partnerships help our students thrive. 💙

Last night, NOLA-PS Superintendent Dr. Fateama Fulmore, members of the Orleans Parish School Board, and NOLA-PS leaders and staff joined school and community partners for the ThriveKids School Partner Social. Dr. Fateama Fulmor offered remarks highlighting the power of collaboration in supporting the whole child.

Through NOLA-PS's collaboration with LCMC Health, Manning Family Children's and the ThriveKids Student Wellness Program, NOLA-PS students and families are connected to critical health and wellness resources right where students spend much of their day: at school. ThriveKids provides care coordination, mental and behavioral health support, chronic condition management, health education and other services designed to remove barriers to care and help students stay healthy, supported and ready to learn.

We’re grateful for our school partners and healthcare partners who continue to work alongside us to support the whole child, both in and beyond the classroom. 💚

ATTENTION NOLA-PS HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS: The Superintendent's Student Leadership Council is BACK for 2026-27, and we are ready to go! 👏🤝🙌

Last year, SSLC members met with professionals across industries, amplified student voices on real issues, supported district initiatives, served the community, and represented NOLA Public Schools citywide. And this year, we are building on all of that and then some.

New experiences. More opportunities to lead. Even more ways to make a meaningful impact on the student experience across NOLA-PS. Stay tuned because we have exciting things ahead.

Applications are due September 18. Apply now via the link in our bio! 🔗🎓️

NOLA Public Schools is proud to celebrate Attendance Awareness Month this September! Every day a student is in school is another opportunity to learn, connect and grow. Consistency in school attendance creates opportunity, and this year, we’re encouraging our students and families to Strive for 95.

We’re aiming for a 95% attendance rate across NOLA-PS. Showing up consistently helps students stay connected to classroom instruction, build strong relationships and make the most of every opportunity school has to offer.

Follow along throughout September as we share attendance tips and reminders to help our students stay present, engaged and ready to learn. 📚

Families can also visit the NOLA-PS Attendance and Engagement Resources page for helpful tips, tools and information to support strong attendance throughout the school year: https://nolapublicschools.com/families/parents-resources/attendance-and-engagement-resources
