About the Initiative

The Jefferson Parish Community Action Programs (JeffCAP) will host two Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LiHEAP) application intake events on Wednesday, February 25, 2026 at the Gretna Community Center (1700 Monroe Street in Gretna) from 10am-2pm and on Thursday, March 5, 2026 at Ernest J. Tassin Senior Center (701 4th Street in Westwego) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The following documentation is needed to process your application:
-Current Louisiana driver’s license, Louisiana state picture I.D. or passport for ALL household members over 18 years
-Social Security cards for all household members
-Current bills for active utility accounts for electricity and gas
-Proof of address
-Proof of income for ALL household members. Income may consist of one or more of the following:
-Four (4) recent consecutive check stubs containing year-to-date information
-W-2s for previous year
-Current copies of unemployment benefits, workers compensation benefits, alimony, railroad retirement, Veterans benefits, etc.
-Copies of tax returns with all schedules for 2025 for self-employed
-Current Social Security and/or SSI award letters (2026 ALL PAGES)
-Bank statement may be used for SSA and/or SSI income if dated within last 30 days
-Current private pensions or government employee pensions with gross amount shown
-Section 8/Subsidized Housing-Utility Allowance (Contract sheet and Form 52667)
-Zero Income Form for anyone 18 years and older in household without income
