NEW ORLEANS — In response to heightened security measures, the City of New Orleans will once again enforce a Clear Bag Policy to ensure the safety of all attendees at Gallier Hall, effective Feb. 11 through Feb. 17.

This applies to all parade viewing at Gallier Hall.

✨ Big congratulations to our very own Alana Harris, Deputy Director of Arts & Culture, on her acceptance into the Recording Academy / GRAMMYs 2025 New Member Class! 🎶🙌🏽

This honor recognizes Alana’s dedication to supporting artists, uplifting cultural traditions, and championing New Orleans’ creative community on both local and global stages. 🌍💫 She is also credited with conceptualizing the Office of Cultural Economy’s Embrace The Culture initiative during the pandemic—an effort that helped sustain creatives and keep the spirit of New Orleans alive when the world stood still.

As she joins this global network, we are confident that her leadership will continue to make an impact alongside institutions like the GRAMMY Museum Foundation and the Latin GRAMMY Cultural Foundation, which advance education, cultural preservation, and artist empowerment around the world. 💐🎵

We’re proud to celebrate this milestone and excited to see the powerful contributions Alana will continue to bring to the music and cultural community.

The Mayor’s Office of Cultural Economy mourns the passing of Alfred Taylor, Sr., a true pioneer in New Orleans music and culture.

As the founder of Rosemont Records, Mr. Taylor was one of the first African American studio and production service providers in the city. For over three decades, he recorded and released music that spanned gospel, jazz, soul, hip-hop, and more—amplifying the voices of New Orleans’ artists, churches, political leaders, and national activists.

His work provided not just sound, but space; for creativity, community, and cultural preservation. Mr. Taylor’s contributions laid a foundation that continues to influence the city’s music and media landscape today.

We honor his legacy and extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and all those who were impacted by his amazing contributions to the musical culture of New Orleans.
