Behind the very technical role some see me in, is arts and culture organizing. I’ve been deeply engaged in arts based programs since 2009 and I’m grateful to giving some energy to that work in today’s panel discussion.

Building Black Arts and Cultural Cooperatives: Creativity, Ownership, and Community Power October 30th 2025, 6-8 PM EST

This webinar will explore how Black artists are reclaiming cultural power and economic autonomy through cooperatives. We’ll dive into successful models of art and cultural cooperatives, how they empower creatives through collective ownership, and how they serve as vital tools for preserving cultural heritage, resisting displacement, and building sustainable artistic careers. Focus on artists, musicians, and cultural workers using cooperative models to sustain their work and resist gentrification.

Y’all the blessing are rolling in and I just keep giving thanks and praises to Yahweh for the constant grown. We welcomed Zelda to our family today and now we headed to the River Road African American Museum for their 3rd Fridays event. Excited to be performing and sharing as well as connecting and learning.

Hey Everyone! It's Tamah Yisrael.

I know it has been a minute since we've connected but I wanted to let you know we are still in the community claiming space and doing for our people.

We are in the process of developing The Yahweh Life Center at 1701 Saint Anthony Street New Orleans into a cultural community center. As you can see, this was a corner store in the 7th Ward.

About the TLC

Builders of the Highway Foundation has been donated full use and proprietary access to the 8000 square feet commercial space located at 1683 N. Claiborne Avenue. This donated use of commercial real estate has been provided by the Tombar Family bequeathed in honor of the late Fredrick Tombar Sr. The Tombar Family has a long history of philanthropy and charity throughout the state of Louisiana and adds this endeavor as a means to carry out Mr. Tombar’s legacy.

Through renovating the newly acquired space, Builders of the Highway Foundation has developed the Tombar Life Center home for The University of יהוה, Neo Jazz School of School of Music, and Copy Zone.

Neo Jazz School of Music, a subsidiary of the Builders of the Highway Foundation, currently provides private music lessons, ensemble training, music and jazz theory, cultural history classes, an Early Educational Math & Science Music Program as well as meetings and rehearsal space. As we continue to grow, the TLC will offer business seminars and workshops, health and wellness education, ethics training, goal setting seminars, literacy programs for all ages, live music and other cultural events for the entire family.

The hope is that by reclaiming and rebuilding of the TLC and the Neo Jazz School of Music, Claiborne Avenue and the surrounding area will be REBORN and unity will be restored in our community.
