Tropical Storm Edouard may strengthen into a hurricane before making landfall later today. While our area is expected to experience minimal impact, the storm is projected to affect the St. Mary and Terrebonne Parishes. The nearest Community Based Outpatient Clinic is the Franklin Clinic.

Our highest priority is the safety of our Veterans. Please stay connected with your local VA facilities’ social media channels for updates related to the storm. In addition, continue monitoring local emergency resources and community alerts for any information that may affect your area. Please contact your local CBOC for any updates to services in their local area.

All issues previously affecting the Baton Rouge North clinic have been fully addressed, and conditions have returned to appropriate levels that allow us to continue providing the highest quality care to our patients.

Although the immediate concern has been resolved, we are taking additional steps to prevent similar disruptions in the future.

Thanks to the prompt and coordinated efforts of the clinic staff and VA team, only minimal adjustments to Veteran appointments were required. All affected patients were notified promptly to ensure continuity of care and clear communication throughout the process.

Veterans,

We are experiencing an air-conditioning malfunction at the Baton Rouge North Community Based Outpatient Clinic. The clinic will remain open keeping scheduled Veteran appointments. However, Veterans are cautioned to be mindful of slippery floors and higher than normal temperatures inside the clinic.

Contractors are in route and onsite to repair the malfunction and spot coolers and dehumidifiers are being deployed to help eliminate slip hazards and increase Veteran comfort.

If you choose to cancel your appointment, please cancel and reschedule your appointment by calling your clinic or the SLVHCS main line at 800-935-8387 to reschedule.

Our highest priority is your safety and that you are able to see your provider for a scheduled appointment in a timely manner. We will provide further updates via social media.

Friday, August 14th, The Blood Center is holding a blood drive at the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Health Care System main campus from 8:00am –3:00pm in Front of the Main Entrance.
These Blood Drives will directly help the Veterans we serve , as well as the community.

Scan the QR code to reserve a specific time slot and help SLVHCS reach its goal to obtain 50 units which will be used to help save lives.

Future 2026 Blood Center Bloodmobile events here at SLVHCS: September 8th, October 20th, and November 4th.

Now that Tropical Storm Bertha has moved out of the New Orleans VA’s catchment area, we are happy to report that we have received no damage and there has been no disruption to our healthcare operations.
