It’s always great to have two strong nonprofit and community leaders in the same room, and it’s even better when that meeting happens at the Delta Fest’s annual conference.

Our CEO Oji Alexander went to the festival, sponsored by Hope Credit Union , in Jackson, and the first presentation he attended was Propeller CEO Jess Allen’s presentation, “Investment Readiness: What Do Small and Mid-size Communities Need to Prepare for Investment.”

A great topic and a critical need for so many communities.

What a great day for seniors, AARP and PH+! Thanks to our partnership with AARP in Louisiana, we were able to offer free wills and succession plans to seniors at the New Orleans location. This won’t be the last time, so please look for future announcements for how you can get a will or succession plan and protect generational wealth.

With years of financial experience and teaching financial education, PH+’s Director of Financial Capability Deneka Desroches knows what she’s talking about when it comes to building stronger financial habits. 💚

Deneka, along with Red River Bank Mortgage Loan Originator Jerusha Williams, will help guide participants through Stack Money. Match Savings. Build Wealth—a FREE 4-week financial fitness program focused on saving, improving credit, managing money and preparing for homeownership.

Participants can also learn about 4:1 matched savings opportunities, receive 1:1 financial coaching and earn savings incentives upon completion.

Friday was a great day for affordable housing and early childhood education in New Orleans. 💛

Congratulations to Rochelle Wilcox and the incredible team at Wilcox Academy ELC on his the opening of their newest early childhood education center in Central City!

PH+ CEO Oji Alexander was there to celebrate alongside Aerica Anderson, who will soon be operating the early childhood education center in our newly renovated historic firehouse.

The Wilcox Academy project and the PH+ firehouse project are the first of their kind under a new redevelopment framework between the City of The City Of New Orleans the New Orleans Redevelopment Authority (NORA) which puts underutilized City-owned properties to work creating affordable housing and new economic opportunities in our neighborhoods.

In both of these projects, early childhood education is an important part of that equation. And there are even more connections: Alembic Community Development and studiokiro are helping bring both projects to life.

Most importantly, we’re excited about what this means for families — more access to quality early childhood education and more safe, resilient and affordable places to call home.

Congratulations again to Rochelle, Wilcox Academy and everyone who helped make this possible! 🎉

One of our favorite outreach event collaborations! CM Lesli Harris annual “Housing Resource Fair and School Supply Giveway” is always a wonderful community event and combines two critical elements for successful kids: education and safe, reliable, and affordable housing.

This year’s event will be even better, adding in health screenings, blood pressure checks, fluoride rinses and more. Thanks CM Harris and we’ll see you tomorrow!
