Today NMA celebrated a wonderful man who gave of himself in a number of different ways including being a 70 year member! A new sign was put up with some fanfare for a humble gentleman, father, grandfather, 70 year EMS volunteer, WWHC volunteer of over 50 year, a veteran, a former Town Clerk, Postmaster, Boy Scout leader, longtime Mason, and all around good guy! In honor of George Buckbee Sr… The newly minted George C. Buckbee Memorial Highway. Thank you George for all you gave to New Milford and your country over your inspiring lifetime!

From a recent multi-patient incident — here’s what worked, what mattered, and what to remember 👇

⚠️ Plan for worst-case seasonal weather
🧑‍🚒 Put everyone to work! Approve OT & get everyone in early
📻 Comms need to be locked in - train it!
🚨 Call in specialized teams early
🏥 Notify ALL hospitals ASAP
🩸 BLS saves lives — don’t get lost in ALS
🧤 Supplies run out fast — restock matters
🖊 Sharpies save lives — write on the patient — handoffs are barebones
🧳 Cops = walking TQ banks
🛏 Use sheets/mats for easy patient movement
🚍 Think outside the box for evac platforms. School buses helped move walking wounded
🚁 HEMS Tips:
 • Fast ED turnover
 • Plan fuel/supply logistics
 • Restock while refueling
🔄 Re-triage — yellows can go red - stable can crump
