Right now, our campaign has received more individual donations than both of my opponents’ campaigns combined. These are real people– neighbors, friends, community members– who are tired of the broken system and ready for working class people to have a fighting voice for them in Charleston. I am incredibly proud of this.

One challenge of running as an independent candidate is not having access to a party network or funding from a political party. But to me, it’s worth it. I’m running to represent the people of District 3 – not party interests.

Our campaign is about the real issues working class people are facing here in our communities and state. Every dollar makes a difference as we work to reach voters across District 3. This weekend, we’re sending our union-made Dave for Delegate solidarity bandana to anyone who donates $20 or more.

Help us continue to lead in individual donations by clicking the link below. Thank you for your support – both monetary and not. I'm grateful to be in this together. ✊

For 35 days now, members of Teamsters Local 175 have been on strike against The Beverage Market. Just yesterday, The Beverage Market stated again that they are “committed to negotiating in good faith.” What’s not good faith is a profitable business proposing a decrease in wages and benefits for working class people.

These workers help keep products moving to businesses and communities across West Virginia every day. The Beverage Market serves customers across roughly 30 counties in our state, and these workers helped build that success. According to the union, they're fighting proposed increases to healthcare costs and cuts to benefits that would make life harder for working families.

No matter where you stand politically, I think most people can agree that if you work hard and do your job, you shouldn't have to worry about losing the healthcare and benefits you've worked for.

As someone who has spent his career in the trades, I've seen firsthand what can happen when working people don't have a voice. That's why I'll always stand with workers fighting to protect what they've earned.

Solidarity with the members of Teamsters Local 175 and their families as they continue their fight for a fair contract.

The Mountain Party is proud to endorse Dave Cantrell for Delegate. Dave is a union electrician, husband, dad, and independent candidate running to represent District 3 in the West Virginia House of Delegates. For years, Dave has fought for working class West Virginians as a rank-and file union member, President of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 141, and President of the Ohio Valley Trades and Labor Assembly. As a Delegate in the WV State House, Dave will continue this fight — standing up for working class families in District 3 and across the state.

The West Virginia Mountain Party stands in solidarity with the workers of The Beverage Market and their families in Sissonville.

For four weeks, these workers have been walking the picket line in defense of the benefits, wages, and retirement security they have already earned through years of hard work. They are fighting an employer proposal that would increase healthcare premiums by 880%, cut retirement benefits, reduce pay, and slash paid time off in half.

This is exactly why the Mountain Party platform calls for economic democracy, strong labor protections, workplace dignity, and an economy that serves people rather than corporate profits. The people who stock our shelves, deliver our products, and keep our communities running deserve healthcare they can afford, retirement they can count on, and wages that allow them to support their families. No worker should be forced to choose between medical care and a paycheck. No family should be pushed toward financial hardship so a company can improve its bottom line. People must always come before profits.

Labor rights are Appalachian rights. West Virginia’s history was built by workers who stood together in the face of impossible odds and demanded to be treated as human beings rather than disposable resources. That tradition continues today in Sissonville.

We encourage our members, supporters, and all West Virginians to stand with these workers however they are able. Bring water or food. Spend time on the line. Share their story with messages of support. Contact the companies represented in this dispute and tell them to have The Beverage Market negotiate a fair contract. Call The Beverage Market to stand up to them yourself.

Most importantly, respect the picket line. We encourage members to boycott these products and buy from local breweries as we recognize not all picket lines form outside a building—they are part of the supply chain.

Brands to Boycott: Miller, Coors, Corona, Modelo, Sam Adams, Truly, Twisted Tea, Fat Tire, Voodoo Ranger, Blue Moon, Heineken, Guinness, Pabst, and Red Bull.

Thank you, Teamsters Local 175. Hold the line.

TLDR: Sign the petition to tell the Monongalia County Commission and Sheriff's Department that you do not want Flock cameras installed in Morgantown and throughout Mon County:

https://www.change.org/p/stop-the-installation-of-flock-ai-surveillance-cameras-in-monongalia-county

These surveillance devices pose a significant threat to the liberty and welfare of the people of Monongalia County while inappropriately using $180,000 from our opioid settlement funds to pay for it. Instead of going into programs that might actually make significant headway in alleviating addiction, nearly 180 grand is going towards privately owned, easily hacked, and maliciously utilized surveillance technology that will affect nearly everyone in Monongalia County.

BACKGROUND
It appears that most of the Flock surveillance cameras purchased by the Monongalia County Commission have gone up, as you can see on this map of existing ALPRs.

Per The Dominion Post last November, "Commissioners approved $60,000 of opioid settlement funds for 20 license plate reader cameras (LPRs) from Flock Safety as part of a 3-year contract."

https://maps.deflock.org/?lat=39.6344&lng=-79.9434&zoom=10.62

If you're unfamiliar with Flock "Safety," this privately owned company utilizes Automated License Plate Readers (ALPRs or LPRs), which are "AI-powered cameras that capture and analyze images of all passing vehicles, storing details like your car's location, date, and time. They also capture your car's make, model, color, and identifying features such as dents, roof racks, and bumper stickers, often turning these into searchable data points.
These cameras collect data on millions of vehicles regardless of whether the driver is suspected of a crime. These systems are marketed as indispensable tools to fight crime, but they ignore the powerful tools police already have to track criminals, such as cell phone location data, creating a loophole that doesn't require a warrant."

https://deflock.org/

The ACLU reported last year (before the county commissioners approved of this contract) that this technology has been used by ICE to perform de facto dragnet operations, by police officers to stalk their current and former partners, and has been used as evidence for the wrongful arrests of American citizens. In one example, a man was wrongfully flagged by Flock's AI surveillance system and was attacked by a police dog during a traffic stop.

While our county commissioners claim that this is "just" going to read license plates, there has been no transparency regarding the contract signed between the County Sheriff's department and Flock. Despite being the ones who voted "unanimously" to approve the contract, county commissioners continue to kick the issue to the Sheriff's department, and the sheriff has never been available to meet when citizens have made attempts to speak with him.

Flock's software has significant security flaws, allowing cameras to be easily hacked and accessed by malicious parties.

During a demo, Flock sales people used live access inside of a children's gymnasium as part of their sales pitch.

"Residents of an Atlanta suburb have been rocked by the revelation that sales employees at Flock have been accessing sensitive cameras in the town to demonstrate the company’s surveillance technology to police departments around the country. The cameras accessed have included surveillance tech in a children’s gymnastics room, a playground, a school, a Jewish community center, and a pool."
