On the morning of February 24th, 2026, the Pemiscot County Sheriff’s Office was notified by the United States Coast Guard of a possible human body in the Mississippi River near Caruthersville, Missouri. A commercial boat on the river initially located the body of a white male wearing dark clothing near the Caruthersville Bridge, and the sheriff’s office recovered the body a short time later. The remains were transported to the Pemiscot County morgue by Coroner Brian Irions and after examination by investigators from Pemiscot and New Madrid Counties, the subject was identified as Camden Nicholas Allgier. Mr. Allgier was reported missing to the New Madrid Police Department on December 26th, 2025.

An autopsy has been scheduled for Thursday to help determine the cause and manner of death. While this is not the outcome we had hoped for, it does bring closure for the Allgier family who has been searching relentlessly for their family member.

We’d like to sincerely thank the Pemiscot County Sheriff’s Office, Pemiscot County Coroner’s Office, United States Coast Guard, and the commercial boat crew involved in finding Mr. Allgier’s remains.

-Sheriff Joey Higgerson
