New Madrid County Ambulance District

Providing Care Since 1978 Our county encompasses nearly 700 square miles of both rural farmland and developing communities.

New Madrid County Ambulance District is a countywide Advanced Life Support (ALS) system providing emergency medical care to the citizens and visitors of New Madrid County, Missouri. Our system currently operates ALS transport units. Our protocols meet or exceed those of a "Model System", as set forth by the Missouri Bureau of EMS.

Tonight was a proud night for New Madrid County Ambulance District as three members of our team graduated from the Cape Girardeau Career & Technology Center (CTC) Paramedic Program.

Congratulations to Danny Darnall, Levie Sutton, and Jorden DePree on reaching this important milestone. Completing paramedic school requires countless hours of classroom instruction, clinical rotations, field training, studying, and sacrifice. Their commitment to advancing their education and skills will directly benefit the patients and communities we serve.

We are proud of the work these three have put in and look forward to watching them continue to grow in their EMS careers.

Today we are proud to recognize Levie Sutton for passing his National Registry exam and becoming a licensed Paramedic.

Levie is a lifelong resident of New Madrid County and has served with New Madrid County Ambulance District since January 2024. For those who know Levie, this accomplishment reflects the same steady work ethic and commitment to service that he brings to the District every day.

It is always special to see someone from our own community continue growing in this profession and take on a greater role in caring for the citizens and visitors of New Madrid County.

Congratulations to Jorden DePree on officially passing his National Registry exam and becoming a licensed Paramedic.

Jorden has been serving with New Madrid County Ambulance District since June 2025 and became a full-time employee with the District in January 2026. Since that time, he has continued working, learning, and growing in this profession while taking the next step in his EMS career.

Becoming a Paramedic takes commitment, discipline, and a willingness to serve others during some of their most difficult moments. We are proud of Jorden for reaching this milestone, and we are excited to see him continue serving the citizens and visitors of New Madrid County in this new role.

Every day, our EMTs and Paramedics answer the call without hesitation. Whether it is during someone’s worst moment, a major emergency, or a routine medical transport, they continue to serve our communities with professionalism, compassion, and courage.

Our crews provide emergency medical coverage across nearly 700 square miles, operating 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, ensuring that help is always on the way when our citizens need it most.

During EMS Week, we want to thank every member of our team and their families for the sacrifices they make behind the scenes. Your commitment does not go unnoticed, and this district is stronger because of each of you.

The New Madrid County Ambulance District is proud to partner with cities, fire departments, churches, businesses, and organizations throughout our county to help improve emergency preparedness and public safety for everyone we serve.

New Madrid County Ambulance District works directly with vendors and uses our purchasing relationships to help provide AEDs and advanced bleeding control kits at our at-cost wholesale pricing. This allows local agencies and organizations to obtain life-saving equipment at significantly reduced pricing while still receiving high-quality, dependable equipment.

Recently, we partnered with the Portageville Police Department to help them secure emergency equipment at these reduced prices. We have also partnered with local churches as part of our continued effort to expand access to life-saving emergency equipment throughout our communities.

We are proud to help save our local cities, police departments, fire departments, churches, businesses, and organizations money in the process while continuing to support the highest level of emergency care and preparedness possible throughout New Madrid County.

The goal is to simply place more life-saving equipment into the hands of people who may be first on scene during an emergency. Immediate access to bleeding control supplies and AEDs saves lives.

New Madrid County Ambulance District is proud to announce that we have received the American Heart Association’s 2026 Mission: Lifeline® EMS Silver Achievement Award, along with recognition on the Target: Stroke Honor Roll and Target: Heart Attack Honor Roll.

This recognition reflects our district’s continued commitment to providing timely, evidence-based care for patients experiencing cardiac arrest, heart attack, and stroke. In these emergencies, every second matters, and high-quality prehospital care plays a critical role in giving patients the best possible chance for a positive outcome.

This achievement is a direct reflection of the professionalism, preparation, and dedication of our EMS crews, who work every day to serve the citizens and visitors of New Madrid County.

We are honored to receive this recognition and remain committed to maintaining the highest standards of emergency medical care for the communities we serve.

Today we celebrate Heath Poindexter on his retirement after more than 30 years with UPS.

For decades, Heath has been a trusted partner to the New Madrid County Ambulance District, making sure we always had the supplies and equipment needed to serve our community. His reliability and dedication never went unnoticed.
