The Maple Grove Fire family is deeply saddened by the loss of former Assistant Chief Carl Wendling. Carl's career with our department commenced in 1972 and spanned over five decades, concluding with his retirement in 2025. His kindness, commitment, and passion for serving the community were exemplary. Carl was a great firefighter but an even better friend. We offer our sincerest condolences to his family and friends during this challenging time.

Rest easy brother, we will take it from here.

With this warm weather there has been a lot of out of control outdoor fires. Remember the top vegetation is very dry. So please be careful. Also keep your eye to the sky as the next few days. Heavy storms are possible with damaging winds. If you see a down power line, stay away and call 911.

Did you know?
The Maple Grove Fire Department does much more than fight fires. One critical service we provide is vehicle extrication following serious motor vehicle crashes.
In the early years, the Maple Grove Fire Department did not have its own extrication equipment and relied on neighboring departments for assistance. This often-delayed patient removal and reduced the chances of survival. In the mid-1980s, the department purchased its first set of hydraulic rescue tools, commonly known as the Jaws of Life.
Today, the Maple Grove Fire Department is equipped with a wide range of modern extrication tools, including gas-powered and battery-powered hydraulic spreaders and cutters, battery-powered reciprocating saws with specialized vehicle-cutting blades, a battery-powered circular saw, and multiple vehicle stabilization devices.
When you see multiple fire trucks at the scene of a serious accident, know that our crews are bringing specialized equipment and trained personnel to safely and quickly dismantle damaged vehicles—helping injured victims receive prompt medical care.

Did you know?
The Maple Grove Fire Department was established in 1969 after separating from the Maple Grove/Hazelton Fire Department. This was done to help speed up response and make Maple Grove a safer community. A fire engine was purchased in 1969, and the new station was operational in 1970. While much has changed over the years, our commitment to serving the community remains steadfast. As it was in 1969, we are here for you—day or night.
