Visual Art Library

Visual Art Library ​The Visual Art Library holds a unique collection of art books. The Library is located in historic downtown New London, Connecticut.

The Visual Art Library, VAL, is non profit international repository of 20th and 21st century books of art. The collection includes but is not limited to books on art, artist biographies, criticism, ephemera, special acquisitions of rare and unique books of art. As of September 2017, the library holdings were approximately 85,000 items.

Hi! This is Director of Arts Education Aly and I am so excited to share this curated collection of contemporary Black artists! Betye Saar is one of my all time favorites and creates immersive worlds from found objects. The objects and images she uses are often loaded with emotion and history. Come visit the collection February 27 5:30-7 PM to look through these books with me and other friends interested in exploring the world of Art Books.
