Due to weather this is event is rescheduled for next Sunday!

Good Morning,
After reviewing the most up-to-date weather forecast for today the event team decided to postpone the Southeastern CT Dog Adoption and Community Event to next Sunday, September 20th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the same location.

We apologize for the last minute notice. While we want to get the dogs adopted as soon as possible, postponing was the best decision for everyone's safety. Have a nice day. Stay safe.

Tomorrow's Southeastern CT Dog Adoption and Community Event (Sept 13th) at 225 Maple Ave in Uncasville at the Montville Animal Control (K9 Barrett Memorial Animal Control Facility) from 10am-2pm is ON.

We didn't want to change the day and time because this event is important to the dogs and getting them adopted.

All event activities including the community activities such as nail trims are also ON for tomorrow.

Please dress for the weather. The dogs and vendors are looking forward to seeing you.

Before the world changed, it was just another morning.

I think of those who woke up, got dressed and kissed their families goodbye for the very last time. Those who went to work expecting to come home.Those who boarded a plane for a holiday, a meeting, to see somebody they loved, or simply to get from one place to another.

I think of the pilots and flight attendants who began an ordinary working day and spent their final moments trying to protect and help the people in their care. I think of the passengers who called home. Those who left messages. Those who said I love you one final time and those you couldn’t. I think of those inside the buildings. Those who helped colleagues and complete strangers find a way out. Those who held doors, carried people, offered reassurance and refused to leave somebody behind.

I think of the firefighters, police officers, paramedics and other emergency responders who ran towards something everyone else was desperately trying to escape. The dispatchers answering calls they would never forget. The medical teams waiting for casualties. I think of the search and rescue teams who worked through the devastation in the days that followed and the incredible search dogs who asked for nothing in return.

The children who lost parents.The parents who lost children. The husbands, wives, partners, siblings and friends whose lives became divided forever into before and after.I think of those who survived and carried that day with them. 25 years have passed, but there are mornings that history never allows us to forget. September 11th was one of this world’s darkest days.

But amongst the fear, smoke and unimaginable loss, there was something else too. Strangers carried strangers. People stayed when they could have run.
The whole world felt the weight of what happened that day. But when the world was confronted with unimaginable hate, ordinary people answered again and again with extraordinary love.

Today, I think of every life lost, every life changed, every family left with an empty chair, and every person and animal who ran towards those who needed them.

Today, we said goodbye to Robert Yuchniuk, who is retiring after 16 years as an ACO in Waterford-East Lyme. For the last 8 years, we've been sharing space, conversations, bitch-fests, and food. Some days were better than others, as will always happen when people as stubborn as we can be are forced into cohabitation, and still want everything our way. But there have been way more good times than bad. It has been a legitimate (for the most part, let's be real) pleasure to work with you, to throw ideas (and occasionally physical objects) around at each other, to enjoy off-duty time at picnics and parties, to taste test our way through your wife's new business, and to bull-sh*t our way through this chosen hell of a career. I'll miss you, and expect a phone call at least every 2 weeks where I will say something totally off the wall, and you will respond with your catch-phrase for me. I'll do my best to try and be gentle with Allison (since even the Waterford Chief threatened me), but I make no promises. Gonna miss you more than I can say, or put eloquently in words. It's been real, it's been fun. It ain't always been real fun. Best of luck!

Kermit came to us after his mom was hospitalized, and she was no longer able to care for him. He is an adult male who has lived by himself, and will need to go home to a cage, as he came in here without one.
