PEOPLES LIBRARY NEEDS YOUR HELP️️‼️

The Federal Communications Commission is proposing the elimination of eRate funding which would be devastating to schools and libraries across the country.

eRate funding enables libraries to provide free public internet access, supports wifi access, and to maintain secure networks to serve patrons who need these resources.

eRate is not funded by taxpayer dollars, but through telecom companies as part of the Universal Service Fee.

Elimination of eRate funds would result in sharp increases in costs to provide internet – and that money would need to come from somewhere - meaning less funding potentially available for resources and programs.

You have the opportunity to let the FCC know how vital eRate is to the survival of schools and libraries! We encourage you to make a comment and include details and stories about how important the library’s high-quality internet access is.

Please also share your comments and stories with our federal officials – Congressman Guy Reschenthaler, Senator Dave McCormick, and U.S. Senator John Fetterman.

Tonight at sundown the celebration of Rosh Hashanah begins. Rosh Hashanah is the Jewish New Year, anniversary of the creation of Adam and Eve, a day of judgment and coronation, and sounding of the shofar. It is a time of family gatherings, special meals and sweet foods – as well as a time of prayer and penitence, reflection and remembrance. Rosh Hashanah also marks the beginning of the High Holy Days.

We wish all those who celebrate L'Shanah Tovah.
