On April 21, 2026, the Pennsylvania Office of the Attorney General, in conjunction with the New Kensington Police Department, the Westmoreland County Drug Task Force, and the Westmoreland County Sheriff’s Office, conducted a coordinated enforcement initiative known as “Operation Northern Sweep.” The operation was additionally supported by federal partners from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Bureau of Alcohol, To***co, Fi****ms and Explosives (ATF).
This operation included the ex*****on of twenty-two arrest and bench warrants related to narcotics possession, sales, and distribution across multiple municipalities in northern Westmoreland and Allegheny Counties. As a result of the operation, numerous individuals were taken into custody and remanded to the Westmoreland, Allegheny, and Indiana County prisons on outstanding warrants.
Law enforcement officials also seized quantities of methamphetamine, co***ne, and drug paraphernalia during the course of the operation.
Operations like Northern Sweep demonstrate the effectiveness of coordinated, multi-agency enforcement efforts in combating illegal narcotics activity. By working together at the local, county, state, and federal levels, we are better equipped to protect our communities and enhance public safety.
