West Metro Fire-Rescue District is hiring for a full-time position! A Firefighter/Inspector position has opened up. Application closes September 14th, 2026, at 5 PM.

We are seeking a qualified candidate to serve as both a firefighter and an inspector within the Prevention Division. This position combines frontline emergency response with fire code enforcement, fire investigation, public education, and collaboration with the Deputy Fire Marshal.

Worked in a part-time/paid on-call role and think it is time to go full-time? Already working full-time for your department and looking for something different that fits your life schedule? The working hours are very non-traditional compared to other full-time departments, meaning more value for family life. No residency requirement! A great opportunity for anyone who meets the minimum requirements!

Community Spotlight! A HUGE shoutout to the entire community of New Hope and Crystal!

If you didn't know, we have spent countless hours recruiting and putting forth our full effort to hire paid, on-call firefighters to serve the community at a high level. As you have seen from our posts over the last year, many people have retired from West Metro Fire.

What that leaves now is a great opportunity for several people to initiate a calling they never had on their horizon. It takes an entire community to make the wheel go round and this wheel was set forth in motion because of each and every one of you.

We received over 100 applications from the people of New Hope and Crystal wanting to help others. OVER 100! If you were one of the applicants, we thank you. If you liked or shared our posts, we thank you. If you told someone at the gym, grocery store, or book club about us hiring, we thank you. If you let us put a hiring sign in your yard, we thank you. If you came to our info BBQ, we thank you. If you scanned our QR code at any one of our events, we thank you. If you did anything else to make it known that we were hiring, we thank you.

The people of New Hope and Crystal. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU. Together, we are making the community a safer place and can't wait to share updates from now until next Summer with you guys! 😁🧑‍🚒🚒

Firefighter Spotlight! This week, we want to highlight a recent promotion. West Metro's new Deputy Fire Marshal, Ian Watson!

Ian has been with West Metro since 2021 and for the past two years, has been advancing his education and experience within the inspection department for West Metro. He has created long-term relationships with city partners and building owners to ensure safety requirements are being met to keep you as safe as possible. His persistence in improving the system is a main reason why he has become a household name that people recognize when the fire department is involved in the district.

It was a no-brainer that he was promoted into the role, as his approach to the community is people-first, with a strong sense of education. His willingness to work with and not against you is how he has built trust between West Metro and the business community.

When you ponder who does all the work to make sure all the buildings in New Hope and Crystal are safe to work in, live in, and be in, you now know that person is Fire Marshal Ian Watson.
