An incredible day of golfing for a great cause! 💚 Our community showed up in a big way for our annual Gregg Berens Memorial “I Golf Because I CARE” Tournament (despite the chilly weather)!

A huge THANK YOU to our amazing sponsors, golfers, volunteers, and everyone who helped make this event such a success. Your generosity and continued support mean so much to us and make a real difference in the lives of the families and children we serve.

We also want to give a special shoutout to everyone who donated to and participated in our silent auction! Your contributions helped make the day even more special.

💙 LIGHTS ON AFTERSCHOOL — LET’S LIGHT UP ALABAMA! 💙

Today, October 22, we’re celebrating National Lights On Afterschool Day, a day to shine a spotlight on the importance of afterschool programs and the incredible impact they make on children, families, and communities!

We’re especially excited and honored that Governor Kay Ivey signed a proclamation officially recognizing today as Lights On Afterschool Day in the State of Alabama! 💙✨ Andrea Bridges, our Executive Director. was honored to be in the room as Governor Ivey signed the proclamation, recognizing the value of afterschool programs across our state. What a special moment for the afterschool community!

At The CARE Center, for over 16 years we have provided out-of-school-time programming and see firsthand how afterschool programs provide more than a safe place to go. They create opportunities and experiences for children to learn, grow, build relationships, discover their potential, and know that someone believes in them. Every afternoon is an opportunity to make a difference! 🌟

We are excited to announce that The CARE Center is hosting a regional series of free Community Conversations in partnership with VOICES for Alabama's Children!

The discussions will be focused on understanding what children, families, caregivers, workers, and communities need to thrive. We’ll aim to identify barriers, share local experiences and data, and help shape VOICES' statewide advocacy priorities around stronger families, workforce development, and community well-being.
