Happy Labor Day! 🇺🇸

In observance of the holiday, The CARE Center business office and food pantry will be closed today Monday, September 7. However, we will resume regular hours tomorrow. The Business Office will be open from 9 AM-1 PM, and the Food Pantry will be open tomorrow from 9 AM-12Noon.

We want to express a huge and heartfelt thank you to NHTC for donating their time, equipment, and helping hands to move a large load of mulch for our food pantry garden! 🍅These wonderful people saved our team hours of hard work in the summer heat and helped us keep our garden growing strong. It's because of community partners like NHTC that we're able to continue providing fresh produce and support to local families!

We recently had the wonderful opportunity to celebrate our GED graduates and their accomplishments alongside their families, friends, and supporters!

We are incredibly proud to recognize three individuals who fully completed their GED this year, as well as several others who have successfully completed portions of the GED and are continuing to work toward their goal.

Every test passed and every step forward represents determination, perseverance, and progress. We are proud of everyone for continuing to invest in themselves and their future.

We look forward to celebrating even more milestones and watching each of them continue toward great success

A heartfelt THANK YOU to the Kiwanis Club of Huntsville for your incredibly generous $10,000 donation to our Bags of Blessings ministry for the 2026–2027 school year!

This year, the Kiwanis Club awarded an amazing $73,000 to 16 local organizations through their largest giving grant cycle yet (more than double what they usually distribute thanks to their board, members, and donors) and we are so honored and grateful to be among the recipients! What a tremendous blessing you are to our community.

Bags of Blessings provides weekend food support, along with additional resources throughout the year, to students identified as being most in need. Your generosity helps ensure that children in our community have food and support when they need it most.

What does it take to change a community? It starts with people who choose to care.
That's the heart behind our mission here at The CARE Center.

Every day, we meet families facing challenges that go far beyond putting food on the table. Parents who are working hard but struggling to make ends meet. Children who need a safe place to learn after school. Students who need a mentor, an encouraging adult, or simply someone who believes in them.

We believe lasting change happens when we walk alongside our neighbors with hope, opportunity, and the love of Christ. Through education, employment support, crisis services, recovery programs, and family resources, we're helping break the cycle of intergenerational poverty one life at a time.

None of this progress happens alone. Every volunteer, every thrift store donation, and every gift becomes part of someone's story. Together, we're strengthening families, empowering our neighbors, and building a community where every child has the opportunity to thrive. 💙

Here are a few fun snapshots from our Birmingham Zoo adventure during this year's summer camps!

We feel blessed to provide enriching programs that give your children a safe place to learn and make memories. If you're a long-time North Alabama native, there's a good chance you've heard Will Erskine's music.

Will was a trumpeter for the legendary soul and R&B group “Dynamic 7” in the 60s and 70s. He spent years entertaining audiences and helping shape Huntsville's music scene (we’re always entranced by his many incredible stories).

Will is a regular at The CARE Center's thrift stores, and we're incredibly grateful for his continued generosity and support of our mission. His kindness and willingness to give back help make it possible for us to serve local children and families every day.

For more than 16 years, the New Hope Community Learning Center has been much more than an after-school program. It has been a place where children receive the following benefits all at no cost to families:

- Academic support
- Enrichment activities
- Opportunities to grow socially, emotionally, academically, and physically
- A safe environment after school
- Caring mentors who believe in their potential.

Together with our school and community partners, we've helped support strong student outcomes, including improved graduation rates from 64% in 2009 to more than 90% every year since 2013.

Keeping these programs free eases financial pressure on families and ensures students have a safe, high-quality environment after school where learning is disguised as fun.

Today, we ask for your help. If you share our belief that every child deserves a safe place to learn, grow, and thrive after school, we invite you to invest in the future of the New Hope Community Learning Center.
