crews are on the scene of a single-vehicle accident on Good Hope New Holland road, where a vehicle has collided with a power pole. Knocking the power out to some homes up Good Hope New Holland road into the village of New Holland. We have AES power on the scene to make repairs to restore the power, we asked that you avoid the area if possible until necessary repairs are made to restore the power. Thank you.

Space heater safety

Placement: Place heaters on a level surface at least three feet away from anything flammable, including furniture, curtains, bedding, and pets.
Electrical safety: Plug electric heaters directly into a wall outlet. Avoid using extension cords or power strips, which can overheat. Never daisy-chain power strips.

Operation: Turn off and unplug space heaters when you leave the room or go to sleep. Never leave them running overnight.

Maintenance: Check electric heaters for frayed or damaged cords each season. Do not use damaged cords. Purchase newer models with safety features like tip-over switches and overheat protection.

Supervision: Keep children and pets away from heaters by maintaining a "kid-free zone".

To ensure safety with heaters in the winter, keep anything that can burn at least three feet away from the heat source, and never leave a running space heater unattended. Other key tips include plugging electric heaters directly into a wall outlet, using newer models with safety features, and making sure you have working smoke and carbon monoxide alarms.

At 04:48 this morning, our department was dispatched to a fully engulfed structure fire in the 11000 block of US 22 West. Upon arrival, Engine 650 confirmed a two-story single-family dwelling fully engulfed. An aggressive defensive attack was initiated, and the fire was successfully knocked down and contained, and extinguished. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and the occupants were not home at the time of the fire. We appreciate the assistance and teamwork provided by our mutual aid companies this morning.

At 14:49 (2:49 p.m) today September 10th, crews were dispatched to the area of Badger Road for a working field fire with standing corn. Crews arrived on scene to quickly extinguish the flames. We would like to give a big thanks to our mutual aid departments. Job well done by all.

At 15:50 (3:50 pm) Crews were dispatched to East School Street inside the village for a working residential structure fire. Crew's arrived on scene with a quick knockdown to contain the fire.
