Where do we encounter Jesus today?

In a recent reflection on Matthew 25, Keith Funk reminds us that one of the Church’s greatest needs is learning to truly see Christ in others, especially those who are marginalized or overlooked. Through honest self-examination, he acknowledges how easy it is to miss these moments and challenges us to stay attentive and compassionate.

Jesus tells us that whatever we do for “the least of these,” we do for him. Each encounter is an opportunity to recognize Christ in our midst - if we are open enough to see.

This month, Pope Leo XIV invites us to hold priests in prayer, especially those facing moments of struggle, doubt, or loneliness.

As a community of faith, we are reminded that priests are not meant to carry their ministry alone. They, too, need compassion, encouragement, and the steady support of the people they serve.

Let us stand with them in prayer this April, asking that they may feel God’s closeness, rediscover hope, and be renewed in their vocation.

Take a moment. Pray with the Pope - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zhfbgZpv8AA&t=1s 🙏

The jonquils planted in 2020 to celebrate 200 years of Dominican women in the U.S. are blooming once again at the Springs Learning Center. A beautiful reminder that the legacy continues to grow!

From the Archives Friday

Today we remember Sr. Mary Anna of New Orleans. Born in 1914 and entering religious life in 1935, she made profession in 1937 and lived 68 years as a vowed religious before her death in 2004.

Sr. Mary Anna served as a teacher and principal throughout her entire career. In 1963, while principal of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, she led the school during the parish’s integration, an important and challenging moment in its history. As enrollment later declined, the school transitioned to serve students with developmental disabilities, continuing her lifelong commitment to education for all.

During the summers, Sr. Mary Anna also shared her gifts by teaching teachers at Dominican College.

And yes—the second photo captures her lighter side: Sr. Mary Anna with her beloved pet raccoon 🦝
