Did you get a notification, SMS, or e-mail from the Village of New Haven regarding tonight's parks & rec activities? Weather dependent - let's hope for dry weather!

If not, download My New Haven MI from your phone's app store and make sure you sign up for SMS texts to keep up to date! We plan to really use the tool this summer to communicate what's going on around the Village - including the upcoming repairs to the train crossing at Main Street!

My speech from today's Memorial Day ceremony:

As we conclude today’s ceremony, I want to thank each of you for taking the time to gather as a community to honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Memorial Day is more than the unofficial start of summer - it is a solemn reminder that the freedoms we enjoy every day were secured through extraordinary sacrifice.

We owe a debt that can never truly be repaid to those who wore our nation’s uniform and never made it home. Today, we remember them not only as soldiers, sailors, airmen, and marines - but as sons, daughters, parents, friends, and neighbors.

Here in New Haven, we are proud to stand together in gratitude, remembrance, and patriotism. Let us carry forward the values they fought to protect: service, unity, and love of country.

May we never forget their sacrifice, and may God bless the families they left behind, may God Bless our veterans, and my God Bless the United States of America.

Thank you.

Always a highlight to attend the Sheriff's Recognition Awards ceremony every year and this year was no different! New Haven Community School's Endeavour Elementary/Middle School was represented and so too was one of our Corrections Deputies! Great job and congratulations to everyone who was recognized today!

At tonight's Village Council meeting, Council unanimously approved Resolution #2026-006, a resolution of the Village Council of the Village of New Haven opposing the potential development of large-scale data center facilities in close proximity to Village residential communities. I want to sincerely thank the entire board for unanimously approving the resolution. At the end of the day, our duty is to the residents of our community and we believe a large-scale data center in such a close proximity to New Haven is detrimental to our residents.

A resolution is an official statement of position adopted by a governing body. In this case, it does not give the Village of New Haven authority over Lenox Township’s decisions or automatically stop a development, but it formally documents the Village’s concerns and opposition on behalf of our residents. It also ensures those concerns become part of the public and intergovernmental record as discussions move forward.

The official, signed version of the ordinance will be communicated out to Lenox Township officials, Macomb County officials, State officials, school board officials, etc.

Based on the latest data from SEMCOG, MDOT, MML, and NHTSA, we have been awarded a multi-million dollar grant which will allow us to convert every intersection in the Village to roundabouts! The first intersection to be converted to a roundabout will be 26 Mile Rd and New Haven Rd, with future intersections decided depending on traffic studies. Construction on the future roundabout will begin April 1st, and will aim to wrap up by September 1st.

I want to thank SEMCOG and MDOT for their due diligence in their traffic studies and for providing the millions of dollars necessary to upgrade all of the intersections in the Village! We are going to be the Roundabout Capital of the World!!!!!
