The Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Division of the New Haven Health Department provides services for pregnant and parenting women and their families, serving New Haven and the surrounding towns.These services include:
HUSKY Health Insurance, is a free or low cost health insurance for pregnant women and children. Nurturing Families Network is a free and confidential home visiting support service
for first time parents. New Haven Healthy Start provides a wide range of services to ensure that individuals are supported throughout their pregnancy and, that mother and newborn will have the best possible birth outcomes. Healthy Start provides:
referrals to medical and social services, coordination of care, case management, outreach, access to a network of health care providers, depression screening, and health insurance enrollment for those eligible. Connecticut Healthy Start offers outreach support for pregnant and parenting women
and their children, free medical care, labor, delivery, nursing care, medications, counseling, home visitation, case management and other related services. M.A.N.O.S is a home visitation, outreach and case management program for pregnant women of any age who are considered at RISK due either to specific medical conditions OR to specific socio-economic factors. Accepted into the program according to a set list of risk factors. Risk factors may include aspects of medical history, age, income, and past pregnancies. MOMS Partnership is a collaboration of agencies across the City of New Haven that work together to support the mental health and wellbeing of mothers and families living in the city. The collaboration includes: The Diaper Bank, All Our Kin, Clifford Beers Clinic, the State of Connecticut Department of Children and Families, the Housing Authority of New Haven, New Haven Healthy Start, the New Haven Health Department, and the Yale School of Medicine.
