We love our local library, we cherish their LGBTQ-affirming work, we know books act as mirrors and windows for our young people, and libraries should be safe spaces for all people, including q***r people. A *few* of our families just happened to descend upon Mitchell to celebrate Pride Month!

Currently looking to hire our next 7th/8th grade math teacher, an important role for our Anti-Bias Anti-Racist public Montessori school, here in New Haven, CT. Do you know anyone who could be a strong fit for this role? Can you repost this and/or share it around?

Our math teacher works on a small team (there’s a math, humanities, and science teacher responsible for a cohort of about 30-35 7th/8th grade students total). They’re responsible to teach the core curriculum with an interdisciplinary lens, to help children engage in our city, to strengthen our microeconomy/farm program (note: we have chickens, we hike in West Rock Park). They are differentiating instruction to ensure growth for all students, collaborating with classroom, level, and school teams to plan curriculum, instruction, and assessment, partnering with families through regular communication to support children’s growth, and participating in professional learning in social emotional skills, academics, and Anti-Bias Anti-Racist work.

This is a 10-month position, a New Haven Federation of Teachers union role, located at 495 Blake Street in New Haven. We want to find someone who is Montessori trained or willing to complete Montessori training in the next two years. The salary range is effectively $58,000-$118,000. A full job description and application can be found on our website: elmcitymontessori.org/jobs. If you (or anyone you’d recommend) has questions about the position before applying, please feel free to reach out to me ([email protected])

Our Girls on the Run & Heart and Sole teams (students in 3rd-8th grade) had an amazing time celebrating the end of the season at the statewide 5K in Bloomfield, CT!
Athletes from across Connecticut came together for a fun and inspiring day filled with running, community, confidence, and celebration. From crossing the finish line with their running buddies to enjoying free food, giveaways, and entertainment, it was the perfect way to cap off a season of hard work and growth.
We are so proud of all our runners for everything they accomplished this season!

The Great Give is here!
This year, Elm City Montessori wants to raise money to support our Erdkinder Farm & Micro-economy, where students learn by doing, growing food, caring for animals, and running real-world enterprises.
From tending gardens and caring for our chickens to building financial and life skills, this program gives adolescents the chance to develop independence, responsibility, and confidence in a hands-on environment.
Your support will help us strengthen and expand this work, improving our farm space, protecting our animals and crops, and extending the growing season so students can learn year-round.
Be part of something meaningful. Help our students grow, explore, and thrive.

This weekend, Principal Julia Webb and Upper Elementary Guide Jordan Bacon attended the 2026 Public Montessori Conference and Retreat in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where hundreds of public Montessori educators gathered to discuss ways we can enhance our practice. Julia's presentation focused on sustaining Montessori in the public setting (we're one of only four public Montessoris in Connecticut, but there are hundreds across the globe!), with a focus on how teachers can utilize their power and structures built into already existing systems in order to work for more flexibility and provide for the needs of children. We had a great time and learned a lot!
