ENDORSEMENT MESSAGE
Am I my Brothers’ keeper?
Why is Gary Tinney so passionate about the international Association of black professional firefighters Incorporated? Because his personal observations along with his personal experiences has afforded him the opportunity to see the good it has done and the lives it has changed. Nothing is more important than empathy for another human being’s suffering. Not wealth, not intelligence and certainly not status, can answer that question. We have to feel for one another if we are going to survive with dignity as an organization. Vice President Tinney has fought against injustices, supported women in the fire service and shown empathy toward our brothers and sisters throughout the country. He has received many prestigious awards throughout his career and he continues to be his brother’s keeper. I have watched Vice President Tinney stand before City Council members in other cities as a voice for the voiceless. Advocate for promotions of African-American firefighters. Address disparities in fire departments throughout many states and yes, he has been a champion of diversity, equity and inclusion. The question was asked ages ago, “am I my brother‘s keeper?”
Vice president Gary Tinney continues to respond with a positive resounding, YES.
