Meet senior Scott Haskitt!

I came to SCSU as a logical step to finishing a degree I started years ago, and really didn’t anticipate how inspired and motivated I’d feel every day by the faculty and my fellow students. I am graduating with renewed excitement to continue in my education and growth as a musician.

Scott also has a senior recital coming up on Saturday, May 9th at 4:00pm in Garner Hall.

Meet senior Shirley Zullo!

SCSU has been my home away from home for four years now. I've met so many amazing people and so many talented musicians in my time here, and I've made deep connections with them that I will cherish for the rest of my life. The music department feels like my family; seeing the department grow and flourish makes me so happy I chose to study at SCSU. I'm so glad I could be a part of it!

Meet senior Hailey Lawrence!

My time here at SCSU has been life-changing. I have grown so much as a musician and a person and I'm so thankful for my experience and the friendships that I've made here. I've loved being involved in Jazz Standards, University Band, and Chamber/University Choir. I want to thank my professors, especially my clarinet teacher, Leah Abbott, as well as Dr. Gemme and Dr. Hlavac. They have truly supported me and encouraged me throughout my 4 years here.

Additionally, my senior recital is coming up on Monday, May 4th at 7:30pm in Garner Hall. It will be featuring solo singer-songwriter pieces as well as a clarinet/piano duet, accompanied by my favorite professor, Dr. Irving.

Meet Senior Paige Gumpert!

Being in the SCSU Music Department has been an amazing journey of growth. I want to thank my voice teacher Professor Barko for pushing me to new heights both technically and artistically. I also loved being in the Jazz Standards group— this group strengthened both my stylistic and professional skills. Thank you to the SCSU Music students and faculty that supported my educational and professional journey throughout the program.

Additionally, my senior voice recital is this upcoming Monday, December 8th at 7:30 in Garner Recital Hall and admission is free! The program will feature Italian classical arias, jazz standards, and musical theatre, and will be accompanied by Alexis Zingale.
