CPR can double or triple a person’s chance of survival if given immediately after cardiac arrest.

Every second counts; CPR and AEDs can be the difference between life and death, especially during hot summer months.

Most cardiac arrests happen at home, so you’re more likely to save a friend or family member.

Anyone can learn hands-only CPR in minutes. You do not need medical background to perform. Just be willing and able.

Steps for CPR: Check responsiveness, call 911, start chest compressions (push hard and fast in the center of the chest, at least 2 inches deep, 100–120 compressions per minute), let the chest fully recoil, and don’t stop until help arrives.

Beegees’ “Staying Alive” is a popular song with a tempo between 100 and 120 BPM that can guide chest compressions. Other popular songs with similar tempos include Dua Lipa’s “Break My Heart,” Beyoncé’s “Texas Hold ‘Em,” and Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us.”

Our goal to is help spread awareness and increase bystanders initiated CPR. Let’s work together to keep our community safe!

High acuity ALS calls are never managed by one provider alone. They are team efforts, and strong BLS crews are a critical part of that success.

One of our overnight crews, Ricky and Lindsey, recently exemplified this on a 911 call. They were dispatched to a home for a patient having a diabetic emergency. Upon arrival they were quick to grab all the necessary equipment to evaluate the patient and get them out of the house safely and swiftly. Once in the ambulance Lindsey assisted the paramedic with placing the patient on the monitor where it was quickly identified that while the patients sugar was high, she additionally had EKG findings that were consistent with a ST elevation myocardial infarction. The Cath lab was activated immediately, and the patient was brought to Yale New Haven where multiple stents were placed.

From early recognition of life-threatening conditions, obtaining vital information, initiating immediate patient care, assisting with interventions, managing scene logistics, and supporting advanced providers, BLS clinicians play a vital role in every stage of patient care.
Their teamwork, communication, and clinical awareness help keep scenes organized and patients receiving timely care when every second counts.

ALS may bring advanced interventions, but high-quality patient care starts with a strong BLS crew! 🚑

As the day winds down we wanted to share some moments from today’s festivities. Don’t worry, we’ll be keeping the party going all through the night for our overnight crowd!

We also wanted to give a huge shoutout to all of our vendors who came by, we appreciate you all!

And of course, we want to take a moment to appreciate all of our hard working crews. With the warmer weather our call volume has been increasing, and they consistently show up and work hard. We would be no where without you all.. one week is not enough time to show our gratitude!💓
