JUVENILES ARRESTED FOLLOWING FIGHT AT SCHOOL SPORTING EVENT.

The New Hartford Police Department responded to a fight during the Sept. 4th, 2026, New Hartford High School Football Game. As a result, three juveniles, who were not New Hartford School District students were arrested.

Officers on scene at the game promptly broke up the fight and took the involved juveniles into custody. This resulted in juvenile arrests for Resisting Arrest, Harassment, Disorderly Conduct, and Obstructing Governmental Administration. The juveniles were taken to The New Hartford Police Department where they were processed and released on these charges. The charges will be answered by the juveniles and their parents at The Oneida County Probation Department. Due to their age, no names or identifying information will be released pertaining to the juveniles.

School sporting events are for students, families, athletes, and members of the community at large to come together and enjoy the game. Fighting and disruptive behavior will not be tolerated. Officers will respond quickly and take appropriate enforcement action when necessary.

For the safety and enjoyment of everyone, attendees are reminded that all attendees must follow the New Hartford Central School District Code of Conduct, which includes the following rules, elementary students must be accompanied by a parent, guardian, or adult. No re-entry is permitted after halftime, large bags and backpacks are not allowed within. Families should be able to come together at our school events, cheer on their children, and enjoy the experience in a safe and welcoming environment.

UPDATE:

Over the course of approximately 2 hours Police were able to restore a normal traffic flow to the area and assist 7 Brew staff with regaining control of their property. 7 Brew became over saturated with traffic due to a nationwide special event - promotion that was in part taking place at the New Hartford store location this morning on Commercial Dr.

There are no longer any lane restrictions.

TRAFFIC ADVISORY – COMMERCIAL DRIVE

The New Hartford Police Department is advising motorists to temporarily avoid Commercial Drive in the area of 7 Brew due to significant traffic congestion associated with an event being held by the business.

Officers are currently on scene assisting with traffic control, and the Police Department is working directly with the business to address the congestion and improve traffic flow.

Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes and avoid the area if possible until conditions improve. We appreciate everyone’s patience and cooperation.

The New Hartford Police Department is warning residents of New Hartford and surrounding communities about an increase in vehicle larcenies over the past week, resulting in several ongoing investigations.

We are asking everyone to take a few extra precautions to help prevent becoming a victim.

🔒 LOCK YOUR VEHICLE!
Even if you are parked at home or only stepping away for a few minutes, lock your doors and close your windows. We have seen vehicles entered in different ways, including windows being smashed.

🚫 REMOVE ALL VALUABLES FROM YOUR VEHICLE!
Please do not leave the following inside your vehicle:
• 💰 Cash or wallets
• 👛 Purses or bags
• 💻 Laptops and electronics
• 🎒 Backpacks or other valuables
• 🔫 FI****MS
NEVER leave a firearm unsecured or unattended in your vehicle.

🏠 DON'T LEAVE YOUR GARAGE DOOR OPENER IN YOUR VEHICLE
This is especially important if your vehicle is parked outside overnight. A vehicle break-in could give a suspect access to your garage and potentially provide another avenue to your home.
If practical, consider disabling the power to your garage door opener overnight and taking other reasonable steps to secure access to your garage.

📹 CHECK YOUR CAMERAS & SECURITY SYSTEMS
Now is a good time to make sure your exterior security cameras, doorbell cameras, and other surveillance equipment are working properly.

🔋 Check and replace batteries as needed.
📱 Make sure your cameras are connected and recording.
🎥 Make sure motion detection is turned on and working.
💡 Turn on exterior lights, especially around driveways, garages, entrances, and other areas around your home.

If your cameras capture suspicious activity or individuals/vehicles involved in a crime, please save the footage and share it with police. Video footage can be extremely helpful in identifying suspects and vehicles and connecting incidents occurring in different communities.

SCHOOL SAFETY UNIT:

As we welcome students, faculty, and staff back for the first day of school, the New Hartford Police Department and our School Safety Unit wishes everyone a safe, successful, and rewarding school year! The first day brings excitement, new opportunities, and the chance to build lasting connections, and we are proud to continue working alongside our schools to help create a safe and welcoming environment where everyone can learn and thrive.

A special welcome goes out to newly appointed School Safety Officer H. Brodt, who joins the New Hartford Police Department School Safety Unit this year. Officer Brodt is a highly trained and experienced member of law enforcement and was formally sworn in as a New Hartford Police Officer in late August to serve in our schools.

New Hartford Police School Safety Unit Officers are highly trained and experienced Police Officers present at each of our schools every day, working closely with students, staff, and administrators while providing an added level of safety, security, and protection throughout each school building and the school community.

Their daily presence strengthens our schools’ overall security, and helps ensure that our buildings remain safe places for students and staff to learn, work, and grow. We wish all of our students, faculty, and staff a fantastic first day and an outstanding year ahead!

Man Arrested Following Fraudulent Donation Solicitation.

On August 21, 2026, at approximately 11:30 a.m., New Hartford Police officers responded to Mariah’s Closet, located at 4456 Commercial Drive, regarding a reported fraudulent donation solicitation.

The investigation determined that Maurice Jones, 62, of Utica, entered businesses in the area and solicited monetary donations while claiming to be affiliated with Utica Phoenix Radio Station. Jones reportedly stated that the donations were being collected to support end-of-summer programs for children.

At Mariah’s Closet, Jones was provided $100 in cash. The business later contacted Utica Phoenix Radio Station to verify the solicitation and was advised that the station was not collecting monetary donations and had not authorized anyone to solicit donations on its behalf.

Officers also determined that Jones entered SOHO Nails and Spa, located at 4456 Commercial Drive, and requested monetary donations while claiming an affiliation with Utica Phoenix Radio Station. No money was provided by the business.

Evidence collected by police, along with information obtained from store surveillance systems, was used during the investigation to identify Jones as the individual responsible for the fraudulent donation solicitation. Maurice Jones, 62, of Utica, was arrested on August 26, 2026, in connection with the fraudulent donation solicitation. and charged with the following:

1) NYS PL 190.60 - Scheme to Defraud, a Misdemeanor.

2) NYS PL 190.52 - Criminal Impersonation, a Misdemeanor.

Additional Charges Are Pending. Jones has been released on an appearance ticket at this time.

New Hartford Woman Arrested in $77,000 Fraud and Identity Theft Investigation.

The New Hartford Police Department has charged Daisy A. Rivera, 27, currently of Troy,NY. following a six-month investigation into the theft and unauthorized use of more than $77,000 from a New Hartford resident’s personal checking account.

The investigation began on February 24, 2026, after the victim discovered numerous unauthorized electronic payments from his account. Investigators determined the transactions dated back to December 2023 and resulted in a total loss of over $77,000.

The case was assigned to The New Hartford Police Department Criminal Investigation Division and over the following several months, Investigators conducted an extensive investigation involving detailed financial-record analysis, interviews, coordination with the victim’s financial institution, and the preparation and service of numerous subpoenas to financial institutions and businesses.

Investigators ultimately identified Rivera as allegedly being connected to multiple unauthorized payments made from the victim’s account. Financial records established that the victim’s account had been used to pay Rivera’s personal financial obligations, including insurance, utility, telephone, and other accounts. In this case Rivera and the victim had a past landlord / tenant business relationship.

On August 31, 2026, Rivera surrendered herself at the New Hartford Police Department.

Rivera was charged with:

• Grand Larceny in the Second Degree, Penal Law §155.40, a Felony.

• Scheme to Defraud in the First Degree, Penal Law §190.65, a Felony.

• Seven counts of Identity Theft in the First Degree, Penal Law §190.80, all Felonies.

The investigation concluded this morning when Rivera surrendered to police and was arrested then arraigned in The Town of New Hartford Court on the above charges.

Rivera was released on her own recognizance at this time and will return to court at a later date.

UPDATE:

Police investigators have confirmed this afternoon that missing Juvenile Gabrielle Werner has been found in Binghamton N.Y. and is safe at this time. No further information is being sought from the public at this time and we thank those who contributed to efforts to locate Werner.

Missing – Juvenile:

15 year old Gabriela Werner.

Missing From The House of The Good Shepherd, 1550 Champlin Ave. since 8/23/26.

Gabriela was last known to be wearing a dark grey hoodie, black cargo shorts and white & colored sneakers.

Gabriela is further described as being 5’’00” tall and weighing 107lbs, with brown hair and brown eyes.

New Hartford Police Investigators are seeking any information on Gabriella’s current whereabouts in order two insure her safe return to The House of The Good Shepherd.

Being an unsupervised runaway and with her whereabouts unknown place Gabriella in increased danger as opposed to being in the care of the facility. Gabriella is known to have family in the Binghamton N.Y. area and investigators have determined that she may be attempting to return there.

POLICE ARREST FOLLOWING MENACING INCIDENT

On Saturday evening August 29, 2026, at approximately 8:43 p.m., New Hartford Police Officers responded to the area of Cosmo Court for a reported menacing incident involving a weapon.

Upon arrival, Police Officers learned that a male suspect had allegedly threatened two individuals during a verbal dispute possibly stemming from a vehicle and traffic disagreement. The suspect who lives nearby allegedly approached the victims while displaying a knife and a brick and made threats to cause physical harm.

Officers quickly located the suspect, who was identified as Anthony Carlo, age 50 of New Hartford, nearby and took him into custody without further incident. The knife involved in the incident was also located and secured by officers.

Fortunately, no one was injured during the incident.

Carlo was arrested and charged with:

1) Two counts of Menacing in the Second Degree (NYS Penal Law §120.14[1], a Class A Misdemeanor.

2) Two counts of Menacing in the Third Degree (NYS Penal Law §120.20), a Class A Misdemeanor.

3) One count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree (NYS Penal Law §265.02), a Class D Felony.

Carlo was processed at the New Hartford Police Department and subsequently transported to the Oneida County Jail, where he was held pending arraignment in Centralized Arraignment Part (CAP) Court.
