The New Hartford Public Library participates in Make Music Happen! MMH is a musical instrument lending program created by Holly Sagrestano as her Girl Scout Gold Award Project in 2018. This musical lending library was created to help patrons connect with the musical arts regardless of financial means. You can check out any instrument for up to a year. Instruments available to borrow are:
Cello
Flute
Violin
Tenor Saxophone
Trumpet
Keyboard
Alto Saxophone
Trombone
Drum set
Electric Guitar
Euphonium
Clarinet
Acoustic Guitar

The library offers free books! Located in the front hallway, these books and other materials are free for those who want to take them home! Stop by and see what's on offer, new materials are added on a regular basis!

The New Hartford Public Library is fortunate to receive many book and audio-visual donations from the community. What is not added to our collection can be found for sale in our Used Book Room. The Friends of the New Hartford Public Library sort through all of our donations and are responsible for stocking this room. The prices can’t be beat (from $0.10 and up!) and the selection is constantly changing so it’s best to stop in frequently. The Used Book Room can be found just inside the upper-level interior entrance inside the library. The Used Book Room is open during regular library hours. Money raised in the Used Book Room helps fund library needs and programs. The Used Book Room accepts and sells books of all genres for all ages, magazines, DVDs, and puzzles.

The library has park passes! Thanks to the generosity of the Friends of the New Hartford Public Library, patrons with an adult card can check out park passes in-person for one week to the many amazing parks in the area. Passes are non-renewable and must be returned by hand to the circulation desk.
