Monday, June 15th at 4pm the New Hartford Public Library will be hosting their very first Period Party. We're here to give you all the details of biology, explain menstrual hygiene options, and answer all your questions, even the gross ones. This event is for those anticipating or recently experiencing a period and their adults, and for anyone else interested in learning more about the menstrual cycle. Light snacks and beverages will be provided. It will conclude with a beaded period tracker bracelet craft and a take home baggie of products to try at home.

Upstate University Hospital's Mammography Van will return to the New Hartford Public Library on June 15, 2026. The screenings will be available between 10 and 3:30. Appointments recommended.

The New Hartford Public Library is fortunate to receive many book and audio-visual donations from the community. What is not added to our collection can be found for sale in our Used Book Room. The Friends of the New Hartford Public Library sort through all of our donations and are responsible for stocking this room. The prices can’t be beat (from $0.10 and up!) and the selection is constantly changing so it’s best to stop in frequently. The Used Book Room can be found just inside the upper level interior entrance inside the library. The Used Book Room is open during regular library hours. Money raised in the Used Book Room helps fund library needs and programs. The Used Book Room accepts and sells:
Books of all genres for all ages
Magazines
DVDs
Puzzles

The library has park passes! Thanks to the generosity of the Friends of the New Hartford Public Library, patrons with an adult card can check out park passes in-person for one week to the many amazing parks in the area. Passes are non-renewable and must be returned by hand to the circulation desk.
