We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Lynn Sheffield, a former member who played a pivotal role in establishing New Hartford Ambulance and shaping it into the organization it is today. We would not be here without Lynn's unwavering dedication from the very beginning.

We wrapped up EMS Week with our annual picnic and recognized a truly special member of NHVA - Lew!

For over 34 years, Lew has been an instrumental part of our organization, serving in nearly every role over the years and currently as Treasurer. His dedication and tireless work have helped make NHVA what it is today.

From the entire NHVA family, thank you, Lew, for everything you do!

Thank you State Senator Paul Honig for making a special appearance!

Last week, we took delivery of our new to us 2026 Demers Ambulance replacing our 2010 Lifeline Ambulance! Northeast Rescue Vehicles worked with us to take this lightly used truck and perfect it to meet our needs. A special thanks to the Town of New Hartford and Town of Barkhamsted for supporting the project. As well as Northwest Community Bank for financing this purchase. We could not have done this without the support from our amazing community partners! Keep your eyes peeled for our fresh rig!

Although the installation of plows on ambulances would be desirable, unfortunately, we will not be moving forward with this initiative. However, please be assured that during storm-related calls, our fire department partners and public works will be dispatched to assist with snow clearance. As a general reminder, please remain indoors and exercise caution on icy surfaces.

This is amazing news! Thank you NW Medics for striving to provide the highest quality care for our response area.

This is amazing news! Thank you NW Medics for striving to provide the highest quality care for our response area.

As many in the community know, we’ve had blood products in our Torrington area paramedic flycar for a while now. With that being so successful in delivering care to those who need it throughout the county, as of today we are extremely happy to share we have extended our blood program to include our Winsted area paramedic flycar as well. By deploying blood in an additional vehicle in our region, it will allow us to begin administering lifesaving transfusions in the field quicker. Pre-hospital transfusions are no small feat. They require a lot of logistics behind the scene, specialized equipment, and the ability to manage a critical patient’s other needs on top of all the steps needed for a safe and successful transfusion. Pre-hospital blood transfusions along with the many specialized things carried in our vehicles help us provide the best care possible to the community by bringing lifesaving care wherever and whenever it is needed.
